In the Logan District League the Warren Warriors took a giant step towards claiming that #1 seed with a thrilling 60-57 win over the Athens Bulldogs last night. Vinton County is right there too waiting to slide in if Warren should stumble.
Should be a fantastic tourney if last nights game was any indication.

In the Southeastern Sectional Waverly beat 7-3 Washington Court House on opening night but lost Philip Hart to injury in the process. Seaching for an identity without Hart and some decention on the team the Tigers appeared to be on a crash course. Hart is back and with a brand new team attitude Waverly has beaten previously undefeated Oak Hill and 7-2 South Webster in a 5 day period. The Tigers travel to Northwest Friday and then to Chesapeake Saturday night to take on the Panthers in the nightcap of the Beast of the Southeast. Waverly is improving and will continue to get better as the young guys figure out their roles. They are still learning to play together. Could be a very dangerous team to meet up with come tourney time.

At this point, I think Washington is the 1 on the SE side. Rolling off 7 straight wins, including beating Miami Trace and Unioto. They are the only team hotter than Waverly right now as well, although Circleville is playing well as well.

I really think 9 out of 10 teams in this sectional could advance to the Convo, as I don't think anyone wants to see Chillicothe and Zach Johnson in an elimination game. It should be a fun week at SE next month.

I agree danica....Court House with 9 wins in a row has been very hot after their 0-3 start....this sectional is wide open other than Jackson at the #10 seed....top 2 seeds no matter how it plays out will have battles with whoever comes out of the 8/9, 7/10 games....the match-ups in the middle could all go either way....not sure how much of a true differnce there will be separating many of these teams, especially as of now....the next 5 weeks or so are going to be very interesting!

Unioto - 7-5
Circleville - 6-6
Hillsboro - 5-5
McClain - 5-8
Waverly - 5-8
Chillicothe - 3-9
Jackson - 0-12

What is crazy is how much that initial seeding matters for your tourney run ... some folks just think about getting a good seed for the sectional, but that seed follows you throughout the entire tournament bascially.

8 teams off those two lists will square off against each other at the Convo in the district tournament - but its the sectional draw that will determine who plays who.

Should be interesting for sure to see how it all plays out.

It's been a great year of HS basketball "Below the Lancaster/Dixon line. The tourney will be even better!

Fairland is now 13-4 and unless they stumble, should have the inside track to the 1 seed. Not sure if that's what anyone wants though, as super dangerous Chillicothe looks headed for the 8/9 game.

Miami Trace vs Unioto could decide a seed, but likely Unioto will be in the 4/5 regardless.

The room would be fun to see and I'm sure some coaches are politicking already.

I don't think there is one single lock to advance in this sectional....Chilly looks to be the #8/#9.....Fairland may get the whether they deserve it or not.

Right now IMO WCH deserves it but they have the league affiliation advantage...the #1 will get a Logan Elm and the #2 will get a Vinton Co type....about the same but the #1 will get Athens if everything prevails and avoid Warren.

If I'm a coach and I'm pretty comfortable facing Chillicothe....gotta fight for the #1, but Chilly is dangerous. Taking the #2 and getting GM is no sure shot. It will be interesting.
