It's way to early to start this thread, a lot of basketball to be played.

Western just lost to Notre Dame at home. Leesburg hasn't beat a single good team.

Eastern is the best right now. Clay/East/Notre Dame/South Webster/Peebles/Western/Leesburg in literally any order right now. Who knows how it will end up.

But like I said in the pfloyd thread, this is the most competitive Sectional in SE Ohio, any division, in terms of separation between the top 8 teams. Any of the top 8 could beat any of the other on any given night.

Then in the Meigs Sectional you have a good Waterford team, and then a huge gap to #2.

The Northwest Sectional is a perfect example of why SE Ohio needs super Sectionals. Nearly all other parts of the state are already doing it, yet SE Ohio won't pull the trigger.

One thing is for sure, if you watch matchups between the majority of the SOC1 schools you are going to see a great ballgame and no single school in the league can say they are going to win hands down. Well at least I wouldn't bet the farm on that statement..

Look for Western to make another run.

Updated records (according to pfloyd's rankings and other posts I've seen)..

Eastern Pike 9-2
Sciotoville East 6-2
Portsmouth Clay 7-2
Notre Dame 7-2
Peebles 7-3
Leesburg Fairfield 7-3
South Webster 6-4
Western Pike 5-4
Manchester 3-8
New Boston 2-6
Whiteoak 1-9

There may be a game or two I'm missing.. With that being said, this sectional won't be determined solely off of records. For example - South Webster beat Notre Dame by double digits at Notre Dame.. Western Pike beat East @ East, that could potentially effect their seeding. South Webster has played by far the toughest schedule losing to D2 Waverly and Jackson on the road, D3 South Point to a 40 foot buzzer beater, and @ East (tied within last minute).

If I had to guess/predict seeding as of today, I'd go something like:

1.) Eastern Pike
2.) East
3.) Clay
4.) South Webster
5.) Notre Dame
6.) Peebles
7.) Western Pike
8.) Leesburg Fairfield
9.) Manchester
10.) New Boston
11.) Whiteoak

Again, simply my own predictions, and LOTS could change between now and end of season.

I do agree with your seeding, the only thing is as we all know, seedings usually go by your record. This may hurt SW due to them playing in the big school conference. I think 4/5 seed may be the seed to avoid this year with a potential match up against Waterford in district semis finals. What are the match ups after 4/5? This sectional is going to be a dandy!

You're right, historically this Sectional hasn't paid enough attention to strength of schedule and base it primarily off wins. The interesting part about this Sectional is how many good SOC 1 teams will face each other twice in the regular season, which could really help determine seeding. Unless, of course, they all split. Then you have a total disaster! haha

I agree, though. This Sectional is absolutely loaded. It's a joke that there isn't a super sectional because after Waterford on the other side, 1-8 here could all EASILY be the 2 seed over there.

I think you will see an SOC I team play each other in sectional tournament. Does 6 play 11, 7 play 10, 8-9 play?

Yes.. Semi-finals will be

8 vs. 9
7 vs. 10
6 vs 11

Then:

#1 vs. #8/#9 winner
#2 vs. #7/#10 winner
#3 vs. #6/#11 winner
#4 vs #5

In my scenario I stated earlier, it would be:

Eastern Pike vs. Leesburg Fairfield
East vs. Western Pike
Clay vs. Peebles
South Webster vs. Notre Dame

(assuming the top seeds win the semifinal round)

No matter the seeding, there wont be a bad game in this sectional. Not to mention, Manchester and New Boston won't be an easy game in the semifinals either.

New Boston get any players back or have players off to a late start? I heard they lost every quarter to Whiteoak in a scrimmage NB hosted.

Fairfield lost to Lynchburg clay last night. Their first league loss. Close game thruout. I think they are 8-4 now.

Seen Lynchburg vs Fairfield & I think Fairfield can play with anyone, they play hard & didn't back down physically ..was exspcially impressed with FHS guard, Daulton kid can shoot the 3 & can take it to the rim as well , they go about 7 deep & from what I was told they can all score, will be a tough out by what I saw

The Daulton kids a keeper. Very savvy with the ball. He can make shots you don't see coming. Rest of the team can play too Don't underestimate them.
