Marietta Times Poll Jan 19th

Post by EasternDspy »

1.Warren 10-1- Been 1 all year and that is well deserved with wins over Portsmouth and Harvest Prep.Tough week with Portsmouth,Fort Frye, and Marietta. 2.Marietta 9-2- They earned it for now with a good game played at Sutton. 3.Fort Frye 10-1- Poor shooting night last night but still got a 13 point win over Waterford. 4.River 8-3 Had a tough 3 game losing streak mid year but is back and playing good bball. 5.Monroe Central 7-4- Tough loss last night still a very big strong team. 6.Shenandoah 6-5 Lost 1st 4 but have won 6 of 7.7.Waterford 5-3 not the same without Tate Lang. 8.Buckeye Trail 4-9- Beat Meadowbrook last night. 9.Belpre 2-7 They still have talent. 10.Frontier 2-7 got 2nd win last night. Best of rest- Caldwell 4-7 and Morgan 0-12.

Marietta earned it for now? If they would have made a couple free throws down the strech they would have beat Warren. They lead in the game for 28 mins and im sure your fort frye team you love so much did not do it. Not only that look at the teams fort frye plays caldwell yeah there great frontier they have 1 player Buckeye Trail record speaks for itself and fort frye only beat waterford by 13 and waterford was playing without 2 of their better players. Marietta played without one starter who is done and a big bench player and was beating warren for most of the game. I mean you are just going to have to get over the fact that marietta is a better team than fort frye.

Listen I gave Marietta credit what do you want from me?If Fort Frye beats Warren sat they will move up.Fort Frye also has wins over River 8-3 and MC 7-4.Marietta has not beat anyone. You played one close game at Home vs Warren. It don't mean anything almost don't count in bball. Will never know who the better teams cause they don't play. The night they did play FF beat them on the court 5 qts and tied 1 qt.That is the only thing I have to judge on.I am sure Marietta has improved.

Marietta has beat New philly once and cambridge twice. And beat jackson logan gallia in league games. Im sure fort frye would struggle with the teams marietta plays. Just because you beat marietta in a summer scrimmage does not mean anything. Marietta played all their players each quarter while fort frye played their starters the whole time. I mean you can only hang your hat on your scrimmage for so long a scrimmage means nothing to the actual season. Who does fort frye have to compete with mariettas size and speed?

Don't be so greedy for glory. EDspy ranked ranked Marietta #2, right where they should be.

It was not no summer scrimmage it was the week before the season.Cambridge is down after losing best player.New Philly is 5-6 and is one of the worst Ecol basketball teams.Gailia,Jackson, and Logan are what combined 5-16.Marietta has not beat anyone.I am so sick of people thinking the gap is so big between the divisons.Over the last 10 seasons if these programs played I am sure FF would own this series. Why don't these teams play? You play Belpre and played D4 Caldwell last season. Why not play one of the better programs in the area?I will tell you why Marietta has nothing to gain by playing FF.If they win they beat a school with 200 less boys if they lose it would make Marietta look bad.

You get your fort frye boys and ill get the marietta team together and we will settle this after the season or whenever. Im am sick and tired of hearing how good your fort frye team is. Cambridge took Zville down to the wire and lost by 3 who went to final four in d2 and zville still has their best player in tanner gibson. Im sure your fort frye team would run both cambridge and zville out of the gym. So if you ask me it sounds like Cambridge is not as bad as you make them sound. Your Pu**y Valley Confrence team should schedule someone good in their own division such as ironton or portsmouth if they want to play someone with talent in their own division if they cant get someone from a higher division.

You can't judge a whole season by 1 game.Cambridge is 6-7 and that's your big win.I have already watched these teams play and FF owned them that night. If almost counted in sports the Ravens would still be playing.I never said FF was the best team in the state.I just think they are even with Marietta if not better and you act like it would be a 50 point blowout. What does the league have to do with the talent of the team?FF beat Belpre by close to 40 and that's the point you can not just compare scores. You act like Marietta would score every play inside?Marietta big men have struggled all season.

Who is the biggest player for fort frye has? Marietta worked the small teams they have played this season and Marietta could have beat Belpre by as many as they wanted but they played their bench. I mean if you want to run the score up on a less superior team then do what you gotta do. Then you hang your hat on a big win against a *D4* River team and half your league is a division below fort frye. Marietta plays one league team that is below them and that is Portsmouth and im sure you would run them out of the gym to because Garrett Legraen would shut down Dion McKinely and Shon Smith would attempt to guard Andrew Bendolph and Donald Hilverding would not allow Wayne Evans to ever see the ball.

Hey man I have never once said we are going to beat portsmouth or have beat them. I am just saying that Portsmouth is better than any team Fort Frye plays in their league and on their schedule except for Warren. And you talk about your big wins being over d4 teams. Marietta may not have big wins but you gotta take a step back and look at the talent they are playing against when they play Chillicothe, Portsmouth, and Warren. Chillicothe has two D1 College Athletes on their team in Ragland and London. The Portsmouth team is loaded and if clicking on all cylinders could make a run in the state tourney. I think you understand how good warren is so I will not go in depth about how good they are. But Im sure your Fort Frye team plays teams better than these three night in and night out.

Somebodies getting a little to worked up about a meaningless poll. You want to put Marietta first, then start your own! Not that hard.

I don't think he wants Marietta first (Warren is clearly 1st), he just wants EasternDspy to quit sippin' the kool-aid. I mean the only thing he can bring up is the scrimmage from 4 months ago between Fort Frye and Marietta. It's like he's treating it as a real game or something. Marietta's schedule is better than the Fort's so I don't see where you are going there...

From freedictionary.com
1. scrimmage - practice playing (a sport)

Fort Frye could beat Marietta, Marietta is having a good year this year but until they beat someone of quality than their wins are meaningless in a rather down year.

Thank you el savior im glad someone else realizes that you cannot judge off of a scrimmage. In a scrimmage you are working out the kinks, trying different lineups and such to see what your team can do. Well thats what most teams do at least. I am not saying Fort Frye isnt a good ball team, they will probably win the PVC but many people feel Marietta is a better ball club. If you get a chance EasternDspy go to the Portsmouth-Marietta thread and look at the wins trojandave was talking about on our schedule. Haha. Cambridge is a real pushover how could I forget you told me that.

To me Marietta is a clear #2 behind Warren. Marietta would beat FF 9 out of 10 times. FF would be 6-5 with Warren's schedule and likely 7-4 with Marietta's.

If Marietta was so tough they would have one 1 qt of 6 they played vs Fort Frye the week before the season.

How many times are you going to bring up the scrimmage man. You are beating a dead horse that scrimmage allowed the tigers to test different lineups and gain team chemistry together. I'm sorry Marietta did not play their starters the entire time like your fort frye team did. You just need to move on from the scrimmage, you are the only person I know that is still talking about it.
