... looking forward to getting my first look at the 2011-12 Trojans of Coach Collins ! ... hard to believe the season is close to half in the books before the committee of one - me- has been able to see Portsmouth in person ... interested to see how the vacancy left behind by Bendolph has been filled - obviously someone/or two folks have stepped up for PHS ... should be a good game between Logan - a team gaining confidence vs Portsmouth - a team who has been there and has the right to have a swagger entering Jim's Gym ... to all the Trojan fans -have a safe trip tomorrow night/rumor of snow through tomorrow afternoon, someone said 3-5 inches total accumulation??? what is up with that ???!!!! ...

Based on the weather forecast, I would be shocked if this game were played tomorrow.

Logan wins in a blowout 75-45 Portsmouth hasn't played a team with the talent of Logan yet and Logan is way under rated

StoneColdSteve Its about time someone other than me finally sees Logan bball for what it really is. Have to agree the way they are playing on the def end of floor and the way they execute on off. this could be a blow out. I have heard it said it many times with the addition of a legend from the TVC on staff it would be just a matter of time before you would see this program go in the direction it is headed. 24 point win.

Yeah...Miller scored 10 versus Jackson. Surprised any Logan player went for 31 against Portsmouth with their 3 extremely quick guards guarding them. This margin shocks me.

... Logan led Portsmouth 13-11 after one quarter before Portsmouth exploded in the 2nd quarter for 25 points ... as the perimeter players for PHS found the Portsmouth big man Dion McKinley in the "dead spot" of the Logan zone , the PHS big man stoked a 13-2 run by the Trojans to end the 2nd quarter ... Portsmouth 36 Logan 27 at intermission ... Coach Collins boyz kept the 9, 10 point margin in the 3rd quarter as neither team lit up the scoreboard with the big play coming in Logan's last possession of the quarter Josh Mutzner hit a short jumper on the blocks to take the PHS lead into single digits heading into the 4th period ... the final quarter was owned by Logan's Luke Miller as he took the ball into the paint repeatedly hitting for 13 points in the 4th quarter ... Logan tied the score at the 2:26 mark at 54-54 ... Logan would hit only one more score for the game - a 3 pointer by Tristan Myers to knot the game again at 57 ... a Dion McKinley layup, to go with Whitley's 3/4 from the line gave the Trojans their 5 point winning margin : Portsmouth 62 Logan 57 a final ...

... a 13-2 run in the final 2 minutes of that second quarter put the Purple in a BIG BIG hole to try to climb out of ... Portsmouth FINALLY found Dion McKinley in the "dead spot" of the zone along the baseline - Mr. McKinley CAN FINISH and did! too easy for PHS in that last 2 minutes - Logan didn't adjust the D to stop the easy stuff ... great comeback for the Chiefs, worked hard at both ends, got PHS rattled for 2 trips in a row forcing some "uncharacteristic" PHS turnovers on those 2 trips ... Logan had their chances - 3 or 4 "unforced" TOs by the LHS perimeter people cost the Purple that many "shots on goal" ... but as I said - great to see the Chiefs getting after it at both ends, the crowd was into it, behind the players/coaches - great atmosphere for high school hoops ...

Always good to get a win on the road..........it wasn't one of Portsmouth's better games, but in part that was due to the scrappy play of the Chieftains, who kept battling from behind all night and finally tied the game late...........but Mason Jordan hit two HUGE baskets to give the Trojans the lead for good, and Zaide Whitley nailed two FT's to make the final margin.

Dion McKinley had a solid game for the Trojans..........while Luke Miller was outstanding for Logan..........with only 2 seniors on the roster, the Chieftains should be vastly improved in 2012-2013.

The JV Trojans pushed their mark to 10-2........probably the best JV record in the 2000's.

Since Eugene Collins took the reigns as PHS head coach in the 2009-2010 season, Portsmouth has now compiled an SEOAL mark of 25-6, with a 4-1 record this year. The Trojans have come a long way since a dismal 10th place and dead last SEOAL finish in 2007.

As far as the "law" watching me at Logan, thanks to Tobias for overhyping the whole thing..........he even had the gall to point me out to a deputy even though I was on my best behavior...........it was all much to do about nothing, just as it was two years ago. I think the "man row" needs to check themselves rather than worrying about anybody else............... :)
