I'll take McCombs over most of those players.

Portsmouth High School Trojans.....a very difficult task to name just 5

Larry Hisle......1965......First Team All-American.....leading scorer in PHS history 25.5 PPG
Mike Haley......1961......State Champion 1961.....MVP of State Tournament
Jeff Lisath......1978......State Champion 1978.....21.2 PPG for Trojans
Craig Tubbs.....1979......State Champion 1978.....24.5 PPG for 79 Trojans
Patrick Tubbs...1988......State Champion 1988.....Led Trojans in PPG 3 straight yrs.

I could name probably around 15-20 players who would be very close to this group in talent, but at the same time it would be very hard to top these 5.

GO TROJANS!!!

I'd subsitute Randy Rosselot or Tim Copas for Blakely and I'd have to get Deron Breeze in there probably instead of Toole.

Fairland's top 5
1.Nathan Hughes-Over 1,500 career points
2.Ryan Ramey-Might have been considered the best ever if he would not have had a career ending injury
3.Dean Wilks-He was from my time,Very solid big man played football at Univ.of Kentucky.
4.Doug Curry-Was kind of the glue that held together the 1961 undeafeated state tournament team "Only state tourney appearance in school history.Gotta mention Kingery and Heinz in there as well at #4.This team was just a special group.
5.Tim Nichols-Only guy in school history to score more than 50 in a single game.
Rounding out the roster:
1.Steve Pay
2.Allen Burns
3.John Eaton
4.Roger Ramey
5.Bob Lewis
6.Ernie Hall
7.Paul Dillon
8.Mike Black
9.Rick Chapman

I played against Nichols in 77-78 and 78-79 seasons. He could shoot it for sure. How many points would he have scored if there had been a 3 pt line during his career?

Some pretty good talent listed above. But for you young Whipper Snappers the above named would have a mighty hard time making the Might Minford Falcons team if they had to go up against:
ALL TIME FALCON GREATS
1. DICK ECKHART
2. CLAUDE LAMBERT
3. DANNY GILBERT
4. JIM GILBERT
5. RON CORIELL
And lead by the ALL TIME Southern Ohio Coach ED Hall. Now there was a C-O-A-C-H!!
When you talk about B-Ball at Minford you can not find any better than the above named six.
Thanks for the memories :) :) :) :) :)

Ya Raiderball its hard to tell.He could have been one of the states all time scorers with the 3 point line do to the fact that most of his game was perimeter oriented. His shot is very unusual,Doesnt have much arch on it kind of a line drive delivery but very effective. So where did you play Raiderball Kyger Creek?

Earp, that 1995-96 teams at fairland was one of the best Fairland ever put on the floor. They were Div II then and still made it in the regionals. I think Mike Black was the better player on the team followed by Ryan Wilgus. Paul Davis underachieved so much....He could've dominated. I think he was like 3rd on that team in rebounding. The McCoy kid was pretty good also.
