After seeing both teams beat Gallipolis, I'd have to go with Chillicothe because of Chambers, Hitchens, Knights, Dawes and company.

Portsmouth has way to much talent and speed for chilly.
but what ever happens as long as I get my seat
by the way comparing scores means nodda,,,Ironton barely beat Gallia, and beat Portsmouth by 10 or more, but Portsmouth turns around and beats Gallia by 30 something with reserves playinmg most of the 4th,aND WITHOUT leading scorer and rebounder Anthony Williams.

Portsmouth is vastly improved over last year. When Williams returns, they'll really be tough. Should go a long way in post season.

Portsmouth the last couple of weeks is not the same Portsmouth that started the season. The Trojans are playing much better basketball now than they were against Ironton, Northwest, and Chesapeake. Those teams deserved to win on those nights, but PHS is a different team now. For one thing, Nate Cadogen has really stepped it up lately, posting several double doubles.
Although the Trojans have improved, they still are a hard team to get a handle on because of inconsistent play. At times they look really good, and at other times not so good. Against Gallia Academy, they probably played their most consistent game of the year. They played well vs. Jackson, scoring 92 points, then they stumbled against South Point.
Since Andrew Bendolph was inserted into the starting lineup, the Trojans have really improved offensively, scoring above 85 points twice. They are 3-1 since the 5-10 freshman has started, the only loss being the controversial one to South Point.
With Anthony Williams going down with a foot injury, Portsmouth became a quicker team but the 6-6 junior was playing outstanding, posting numbers of 19 ppg and 15 rpg. Against the Cavaliers, not having Williams will hurt no doubt, because the Trojans are now smaller and have to battle harder on the boards.
I think people will be surprised at how quick the Trojans are out front, with Bendolph, Cory Reeves, and Forrest Johnson. It will be an interesting matchup with Anthony Hitchens, Caleb Knights, and Stuart Beverly going against Portsmouth's trio.
I have told a number of people that Portsmouth simply cannot let Anthony Hitchens and Ray Chambers play their normal game; if they do, Chillicothe will be in their comfort zone and the Trojans will be in big trouble. If PHS can force CHS to do something different from what they normally do, it could be an interesting game.
Chillicothe is the BEST team by far that Portsmouth has faced to date.....and it will take the Trojans' BEST game of the season to have any chance to pull off the upset. The Cavaliers 4th quarter defense against North College Hill was the best defense I have seen by any team this season; it completely stifled the Trojans.
Does Portsmouth have a chance to win? YES. (I know some CHS fans are laughing at that) But we have to play an A+ game, and I know our kids are looking forward to this game.
This is a game that will be good for Portsmouth regardless of the outcome, because it will let us know how much we have improved as a team. In every season, a team needs several games as a litmus test to see how good they really are; Chillicothe has stepped up to the plate and has scheduled some stiff competition with their eyes on the big prize come March.
This is one of those games for Portsmouth.
GO TROJANS!!!
