Why do all the schools in Lawrence County have to travel out of the county to play a game? South Point, Rock Hill and Fairland all have or will have a new gym for this? This stinks. At least last year we had one or two games at Rock Hill

It's really a multi-part answer:
1) Schools aren't permitted to play tournament games on their home floor
2) The school has to put a bid in to the district board to host games
3) It's not just the gym--parking, seating capacity, people to work...etc.
4) Most district boards have went to the "super sectional" format in the past few years--where 2 or more sectional champs are decided at the same location
5) Just as in real estate---location, location, location. Being at the southern tip of the state doesn't bode well. Most boards would rather have 10 schools drive an hour to a more central place than have 5 drive 2+ hours for early tournament games.

One change affecting area D4 teams is that Columbus now has 2 teams at Regionals along with the 2 SEOhio teams. Going to make that Regional alot tougher as the teams from the Northern District the last few years have been pretty weak. Now this year, Africentric and Worthington Christian will both be at Regionals instead of meeting in the District Finals.
Also glad to see D2 get two spots at Regionals. Chillicothe and Greenfield both deserved spots at Regionals last year.*

At least the girls did not get the shaft. Most of the Lawrence County teams will be playing at Rock Hill.

Don't forget Harvest Prep in that D IV Cenral District.
6 of the 8 high schools in Lawrence Co are D III. If you have sectional in the County which of the schools would you suggest host this tournament?

Don't care who hosts it, pick one, any one, it sure beats a long drive!

There's also another that I failed to mention...there is 1 fewer spot at regionals for D3. So in turn, the district board opted to reduce the number of sectional sites from 3 to 2--in keeping with the "super sectional" theme.
Another thought about D2--while I haven't seen the assignments from the east district (which they haven't posted yet)--based on years past, there will be 2 teams from there advance to the regional--keeping the Columbus schools out of that regional.
Central District hasn't posted boys info yet, but they have done so for the girls.

Awesome! Just a five minute drive to Wellston (less if Grady Lane entrance is open) for me!
Alright, no treck up 93 this year.
