I won’t be referring Hoops to Osborne in 10 years. Combs is a good comparison.
Good. Hoops much better
Hoops much better than Combs?
Either

Gary Kellough of Zane Trace not getting mentioned yet is insane.

Between Kellough, Hoops, Huffer, and Kyle Bradley (Adena), Ross County Basketball is in good shape

Davis of Chesapeake, Norm, Howie, Maddox, Collins, and Stiverson also outstanding.

Robertson of Waverly is one of the top coaches in southern Ohio. I'll put him up against any of the other coaches. His teams are well prepared, always play hard and he gets the most out of the talent available. Travis is also good at making adjustments to his team based on the type of athletes he has. He puts in an extraordinary amount of time year round.

Waverly has made four straight trips to the Convo as well as some big district wins. Victories against Vinton County and Fairland in district play in games in which Waverly was the decided underdog. Did we recently beat Warren in district play also? They did get us last year in a game that went down to the wire.

Some people seem to be listing accomplishments and "not much else" which is not a fair way to judge or evaluate a coach. Accomplishments are in large part a reflection of the talent available. And how many times have we seen a coach leave a school just as the talent dries up and go to another school that has up and coming talent?

Ater is a good coach. He has been fortunate though to have some really good talent while he's been there with Holden, Truitt, Miller, and McCorkel. He also has a really good assistant in Bradford who has been a head coach and they seem to work well together. In fact if you watch, alot of the in game adjustments seem to come from Bradford.

Next year will tell more on how good a coach he is when this senior class graduates. There may be some leaner years by their standards without the college level talent

Part of the overall coaching should be building the program...now if you just go 8-14 every year for 15 years but once program is built it should just keep reloading for the most part, some classes down but always a tough team to play and varsity coach knows what’s going on in the youth leagues or a solid part of it....Maddox, Combs, Beucler, Stiverson are big in that area and continue to reap the benefits of caring about the youth programs. Some younger coaches are getting there. Some coaches don’t give a tiny rat’s ass about the youth programs.

Ater was 4 or 5 points away from a state birth at Webster with a team that didn’t win the conference and without A starter all through the playoff run.

I think Ater can get more out of average talent than anyone (besides norm)
