Both teams feeling like they need to get a win tomorrow night, with Webster dropping two in a row in league to the top teams in the area and Waverly going 1-2 in their last three contests. Both teams lost to burg by about 10 points, the SW matchup had a lot more points scored than the matchup against Waverly. I think I give Webster the slight edge in this one, overall I think they may be a little more prepared schedule wise and maybe have a little more experience across the board. How deep is Webster? Do they play a lot of upperclassman or is it a mix?
Waverly has been very inconsistent in the half court offensively all year long, and from the three point line. They only have about 2 players who will consistently shoot the 3 but it’s always a toss up game to game if those shots are going to fall. Waverly will probably continue to see a zone most games until they can improve their outside shooting and movement vs the zone. Sometimes Waverly will get complacent with just passing around the perimeter against the zone and settle for a poor shot just to get one up, would like to see more penetration as time goes on and they figure things out. Overall Waverly has started out better than what most thought, but this second half of the season will be a grind for this team and they may take some L’s along the way. But hopefully they will stay competitive in almost every game and it will pay off in the long run. Starting 3 freshman is a challenge but will be rewarding in the grand scheme of things.
