Perkins coached 'em last year and had MC in the OVAC championship. He might've got a raw deal, but MC looks scary legit.
Perkins didn’t get no raw deal. If you know the truth.
Do you know the truth, were you in the closed door meeting? Might be one sided truth. Everyone has a past.

Man I know it was just Magnolia tonight but I don’t remember a better basketball team at Monroe Central or old WHS. Not including Skyvue because they definitely have great b-ball teams. But is this the best basketball MC has ever had? We need to keep Coach Lang as happy as we can in our community.

Probably if not the best start in Monroe Central History. Prior to Consolidation, here’s a few teams that made deep tournament appearances:

1949-Woodsfield-Regional Runner Up-Class B
1957-Bethel Township-State Final Four-Class A
1970-Skyvue-Regional Runner Up-Class A
1984-Skyvue-State Final Four-Class A
1985-Skyvue-State Runner Up-Class A
1986-Skyvue-Regional Runner Up-Class A

from what i've seen it's the best team MC has had in its 30 yr history... or is it 29?

River had 3 Regional trips that I'm aware of.
Didn't Beallsville make it 1 time?

I believe they do on the nfhs network (I believe that’s what it’s called?)

29th. 30th will be this fall.

They’re fun to watch.

Monroe Central has a two interesting games coming up this weekend River on Friday and Martins Ferry on Saturday,I know this not the same River team from last year, but still a decent team, Martins Ferry game on Saturday, which MF team shows up, because the one I watched today didn't overly impressed me against a above average Garaway team , losing to Garaway 56-48

anyone know why we play Martins Ferry twice? Are we in some kind of basketball league with them?

I’m from an older generation that never played them in anything. So I honestly don’t know.

Better question is are we in a league at all? After the PVC dissolved I’ve been at a loss with everything. I’m an old guy lol. Go easy on me

Yea they just started a new league a few years ago, it's called Mid Ohio Valley League ,the current members are
Monroe Central
Shadyside
River
Barnesville
Shadyside
Buckeye Local
Shenandoah
Caldwell
As of now they only have 7 teams in their league, I'm sure there hopping to find one more suitable team,to make it a 8 team league, but Martins Ferry is not in the league, should be a good test for MC

I think Bridgeport, Frontier, Paden City WV and Magnolia WV are in it too. Not sure who's in charge of league. Might be 2 divisions.
One thing about the MOVL, you never see any standings?

5-1 River
4-2 Barnesville
1-3. Caldwell
4-4. Shadyside
2-4. Shenandoah
0-6. Buckeye Local

Carbon Dated,
I know right? I’ve googled the MOVL before and can’t find anything about it. Just seems more like a group of schools quietly agreed to schedule each other more so than an actual conference.

I think what I have seen a good while ago, was that Rivers head coach is supposed to be the leagues head commissioner, he was the one that got this league started,it doesn't sound like it's very well put together

Thank you. That’s the first time I’ve even seen standings published.

It’s gotta be embarrassing for long time Buckeye Local fans to not only just be in this league, but be so uncompetitive in it.

It’s sad to me as Fort Frye fan. I miss the pvc.

maybe you would still be in a real league if you didn't have two varsity coaches that wanted out of the PVC
