Waverly traveled to Wheelersburg and couldn't throw it in the ocean, from two feet away. Tigers lead 46-45 with .36 seconds to play. Trailed 47-46 and had 4 straight opportunities to take the lead but couldn't buy a basket, missed two layups. Burg made some late FT's to make it 51-46. Howell did make 4 threes but the Tigers missed a bunch of fast break shots and a few FT's.

I remember when winning a sectional championship was a big deal.

One game and advance just doesn't seem right.
Just get it done then.
I guess now it is winning a district championship now that is a big deal.
With about 19 teams in the SE district, it seems they are right on the line of getting one or two regional berths. And it seems they have alternated over the last few years. A team gets to go to the Convo when they are down to four teams competing for one regional spot which they call a district champion which it is not really if two teams from the SE district get to go to the regional.

So some years being a district champ is twice as prestigious as others. It is good so more teams can be a "district champion" if the district gets two teams out, and double the teams get to go to the Convo, but often a true district champion is not determined because of the way the regional match-ups go, they may not get to play each other.

Come check out the Cavs Tuesday as they take on D1 #2 Pick Central at home. Central has Sterling Manley committed to UNC  . Hopefully we can keep it close!

GO CAVS!!!

Waverly loses again tonight to Minford. 5 or 6 seed is looking more realistic all the time.

When it is time for seeding, it is quite possible with their schedule Chillicothe will have 8 or 9 losses, still some tough games to play.
They do play a very very good schedule for sure.
Waverly has 3 losses now. I am guessing they lose a couple more looking at their schedule by then.
Does the strength of schedule carry that much weight to give them the four seed and Chillicothe the three.

It will then be interesting who gets the 5-7. Gallia looks to quite possibly have the best overall record by then. They could have at least 8 or more in the loss column by then.
Courthouse and Jackson could both have double digit losses.

One of those three teams will have a nice opportunity to win one game and advance depending on who gets Waverly.
Nothing against them but they have to be the team the others want to play in order to advance to the Convo.

A lot of basketball to be played but it will be very interesting to see how it all plays out.

Right now I would seed the top teams as:

1. Miami Trace
2. Chillicothe
3. Unioto
4. Waverly
5. Washington C.H.

Of course that could change between now and seeding time. Big game for Chilli and Court House on Friday, for starters.

The only problem with seeding Chillicothe is their quality wins. They have lost to Washington and Miami Trace in the Sectional, and it is extremely unlikely for anyone in this sectional to have beaten Pickerington Central, Westerville South, Vinton County, or Bloom Carroll, they still have a low number of quality wins.

That can definitely change with games against Washington, Miami Trace, and Upper Arlington coming up before the draw. I think that they should be a top 2 seed (1 if they beat WCH and MT), but I could see the losses hurting them otherwise. Now, both Logan Elm and Wilmington are excellent wins, but a couple more would definitely be helpful for them.

I actually agree completely with bman's top 5 at this point. I would switch Chillicothe and Miami Trace if Chillicothe wins at MT. Unioto could also make a slight jump with a win at Miami Trace and not losing before the draw (the game with Washington will be after coaches vote and with Chillicothe is after the draw is official)

Washington could jump with a couple of good wins over Miami Trace and Chillicothe and taking care of business otherwise. Waverly just needs to keep winning and avoid any more bad losses to stay in the top 5.

Waverly is 9-3 with the loss to Minford. Two straight losses on the road.

I would find any Sectional final featuring the Tigers to be must-see. Their style is very up and down and with the athletes on the floor in D2, it would be really fun to see.

If Chillicothe wasn't in SCOL it's hard to imagine where they'd put them....be like South Webster in the D4 Valley sectional over the years

Anyone besides Chillicothe play tonight? They host Marion Franklin and it is their Hall of Fame Night, which is ridiculously loaded. They should win that one, IMO.

Did a quick search and got Hillsboro at Western Brown and Waverly vs West Union at North Adams. Anyone else?

Waverly loses to West Union today, buzzer beater in OT - NO WAY SHOULD THAT HAPPEN. The Tigers have lost 3 or their last 4 and sit at 10-4.
Waverly better figure it out quick and go on a run before the draw.
