Nice job Vikes!!!! Sounds like Athens has improved, but not enough for the Vikes.

Had a chance to go out to the game tonight. Both teams showed some flashes of being good but....Having seen Alexander, these two teams will struggle to keep it within 10+

VC was clearly the better team in this one, but hats off to Athens for not giving up. After the 1st quarter I never thought the Vikes were in trouble though. Athens could not stop Prater or a "under the weather Grillo". And for Guthrie not being that good he scored 11 and had to have close to double figuers in rebounds as well. VC is a very balenced team that can hurt you in several different ways. They shouldve won this game by 10-15 easily. The rematch in Athens will be more 1 sided as Coach Combs will have the Vikes more prepared. Way too many fouls and unforced tunovers in this one. But hey 4-0 cant complain too much.

I hope it is ok if I disagree a little. Vikes built their lead in the second quarter when Valentour went to the bench with his second foul. Without the big third quarter by Pfaff, the Vikes may have been able to pull away, but didn't. Athens can score points in a hurry, so a 8-10 point defecit is not that big of a deal. Pfaff ran the team brilliantly for Athens, and they got contributions from many.
These clubs are very similar in my opinion when it comes to talent. Grillo was awesome and certainly gased by the end, after being sick for most of the week. It was bit of a difficult game to get a grasp on, but was entertaining. A very nice crowd on hand. Congratulations to both teams. Saying welcome to the TVC is very appropriate, I believe we are a good fit, and are good for this league.
