I'd say SOCII has the edge most years...but too strong implies they have no chance. Are you saying Eastern-Pike may as well not show for their game at Northwest this season?

Yeah thats exactly what im sayin cuz burg is gonna KILL east. Northwest is gonna KILL eastern, notre dame and clay. I played for an SOC 2 team and i never lost to an SOC 1 team. We killed any SOC 1 school we played...

Actually somebody did say that.

Well, you don't know that much. East scrimmaged Burg in 2002(previews) and tied. Burg normally doesn't play well in a scrimmage.

Do u watch basketball i mean really. Yeah east is a good SOC I team but burg has been on top of the SOC II for a long time and there is a big difference between the SOC I and SOC II, and wheelersburg is going to be in the top 2 teams in the SOC again this year. Also if East was in the SOC II they would probably be at the bottom of the league. Yes Wheelersburg lost a lot of talent, but come on lets be realistic. I like your confidence in your team, and i think that east will win the SOC I and maybe even get another chance of going to the Convo. But there not gonna beat burg.

Ah, this is a scrimmage guys...

East may well 'win'--especially if winning this is important to them. I suspect that Coach Barrick will have more important goals for this 'game' than winning. He will still be working on defensive rotations, offensive plays and trying players out in different positions. For Wheelersburg to 'win' this does not give them any bragging rights like it would East. East will have the bigger incentive to put more points on the board and they may well do so. There will be a lot of sophomores and a freshman playing on this squad.

Remember that there is not a senior on the roster! They will potentially have all their starters back next year...

13 Coley Warner 5'10" 155 11
14 Zaide Whitley 5'11" 150 9
15 Brandon Schankweiler 5'11" 165 10
22 Cole Miller 5'11" 160 11
23 Nick Kemper 6'1" 170 11
24 Shane Ward 6'2'' 190 10
25 Tyler Lang 6'0" 170 11
31 Tyler Craigmiles 6'1" 190 11
32 Andy Stegman 6'5" 200 10
33 Isaac Duduit 6'2" 200 11
35 Andy Sloan 6'2" 215 10

BTW--I am glad to see Tyler Craigmiles back on the court. He had quite a lot of potential as a freshman.

Let us think a moment........there is a reason why a school like a WHEELERSBURG or a WEST does not schedule a school like a east or a notre dame. There is a reason why a school like east or notre dame does not schedule a school like a WHEELERSBURG or WEST. THE END

Actually, I think that West plays Notre Dame most years. Could be wrong but that is what I recall.

Wheelersburg and Notre Dame and Wheelersburg and Clay have played in the last 15 years. Not a lot, but they have been on the schedule.

East/Wheelersburg used to fight a lot so theirs have been an off again/on again series. Not playing makes better neighbors. LOL.

Actually, Wheelersburg tries to schedule DI and DII teams as much as possible for non-conference games (Gallipolis, Huntington, Miami Trace, Greenup, Chillicothe, Laurenburg NC). If they have to, they will play DIII (and always Portsmouth/Ironton) but rarely under Barrick have they played the DIV teams--basically with the above exceptions. It has to do with preparing for the tournament and playing most smaller schools doesn't do that as well.

This game, exhibition or not, will get ugly. Completely different levels of talent and programs.

Wheelersburg 65 Notre Dame 43

1981-82
Wheelersburg 98 Notre Dame 48

1993-94

1994-95
Wheelersburg 92 Notre Dame 66

Missing the full set of results in my book! :-( But I don't think they played any SOC I teams.

Well look for another wheelersburg blowout But i think the only SOC 1 team that can give Wheelersburg a run for their money is Western. In fact i think Western can beat Wheelersburg.

You can not judge the Pirates by their preview results. In the past six previews, I have written down the results of four of their previews and they were 1-1-2 in those. And one could argue that Wheelersburg had done OK during that stretch. In the five completed seasons they have 3 SOC II championships, 2 regional championships, 3 district championships and 4 sectional championships. Certainly, no SOC I team would have been favored against them in those five years (except maybe Clay in 2003--and Wheelersburg won that game anyway).

But everyone has a chance in any given contest. That is why they play the game. Wheelersburg could play badly or Western could shoot 65% for the game like they did the first quarter of the preview. Of course the Indians shot only about 27% in the second quarter but if they could avoid that in a real game anything is possible.

I agree, I'm not from either school but I am very close to all the local teams and I believe that head to head Western would beat most of the SOCII schools. That Shanks kid is a beast and would automatically put any team he was on at the top.
