The Southern Tornadoes come to Wagner Gymnasium to take on the Buckeyes in a non-league basketball game on Saturday.

Thoughts?

With Athens joining the TVC OHIO next season, there is no longer a requirement that Ohio schools have to play so many Hocking schools. As a result, this will be the last game between Nelsonville-York and Southern, at least for the time being.

NY will play Trimble, Miller, and Federal Hocking from the TVC Hocking next year (the three schools from the old unified TVC) as non-league games and thats it. Trimble and Miller will be two games each, while Federal Hocking will be one game @ FH.

NY is also picking up Amanda-Clearcreek, Crooksville, and Berne Union as non-league basketball games next year.

That will be the 8 game non-league schedule, as the TVC Ohio league schedule moves up to 12 games next season with the addition of Athens.

Southern has a nice team. They moved the ball well on offense, and have good size.

Southern is on the upswing athletically with basketball and, of course, baseball. They just need to get that football team going a bit more.
