Bringing Valley into the conversation doesn't make sense.

If you have a debate over the No. 1 seed - who beat who head-to-head ... Fairland over Chesapeake.
Same goes for No. 2 ... Chesapeake beat Alexander.
Same goes for No. 3 ... Alexander beat Minford.

Bringing any other team into the mix just complicates matters. You can look up and down the schedule and find quality wins or losses to make cases, but it just gets muddy. Alexander beat Warren, a DII team with a 12-2 record. Could they say they have the best quality win? I mean, you can go on and on ... Just boil it down to the head to head match-ups and that seems to be the most fair and accurate process.

Fairland beat Chesapeake ... Chesapeake beat Alexander ... Alexander beat Minford ... easy pickens

I would agree with that list.

It makes sense if you take into consideration that there was a common opponent with common circumstances (neutral floor).
Where these teams play makes a big difference. A neutral court is the best place to see what a team can do.

Fairland over Chesapeake at Fairland
Chesapeake over Alexander at Chesapeake

I think it is important to consider road wins and neutral site wins a little heavier than a win at home. For example, Fairland beats Portsmouth at Portsmouth and Portsmouth beats Chesapeake at Portsmouth. To make it so cut and dry is too simplistic, and, frankly, takes some of the fun out of it.

Anyway, I totally agree with your seeding... :D :D :D

This thread is slipping down the page compared to the other 2 sectionals threads. What's everyone thinking as of now after games last night and with games coming up?

Despite having played well the last couple of weeks, 9-5 Portsmouth has some rugged tests before the draw. Tomorrow the Trojans travel to Chesapeake, host Ironton next Tuesday, then play at Fairland next Friday. Portsmouth plays 4 games total next week, including at Rock Hill and at Coal Grove.

If PHS wins out to the draw, I could see maybe a #4 or #5, but if they drop a game or two, a #6 or #7 is a possibility, depending on what other teams with similar records do up to the draw.

Tough, balanced sectional for the top 8 teams. There is a pretty distinct cut off under zane trace according to records. Will be a very interesting draw. I know all the top 8 teams have a few tough games ahead. I think the top two seeds are set and the 3 thru 8 seeds can end up anywhere!

Does next weekend's games count for the draw? I think they actually vote around Wednesday next week on-line for the seedings. Correct me if I am wrong please.

Voting opens on Wednesday. I believe you can vote through Saturday at Midnight.

I'm sure some coaches vote early, but I'd hope most would wait through at least Friday's games to vote.

Minford dropping back down into the mix makes the D3 tourney more competitive and better! They'll have their work cut out for them if they are going to try to win a District Title this year

Fairland too!

But it also makes the DII brutal now. Only two teams make it out of each sectional. You win a sectional in Division II, you've accomplished something. They could be as competitive as the DIII and DIV district championship games.

The first 8 teams at Waverly will be interesting. I will predict: :o

Valley, Portsmouth, Lynchburg Clay (1-3)
Adena, Westfall (4/5)
Eastern Brown, Zane Trace, North Adams (6-8)

I'll wait until pfloyd posts his Elite 8 for this week before updating the records. I'm not 100% of some of them.
