2024-25 OVC
2024-25 OVC
Any predictions?
Fairland always reloads year in and year out. They are #1 until proven otherwise.
Chesapeake returns a lot of players from last seasons team. Should be at the top again this season.
Ironton has a new head coach so interesting to see how they do this year. They do have the athletes to compete.
South Point and Coal Grove have good coaches who will keep their kids competitive regardless of talent.
Rock Hill and Coach Schug were competitive in many games despite the limited wins. Much better than in years past where they were the “gimmie win.”
Portsmouth struggled last season with the 11th hour coaching change. Could things be different this season now that they’ve had a full offseason to prepare?
Gallia I have no idea about. Maybe someone could provide insight?

Give me Trojans with a near perfect season this year. They have transfer from burg Logan adkins playing this year after missing last year due to injury. Bringing back a great guard duo in Thomas and woods. They also return one of the best defenders on the court I’ve seen in parker. Not loosing much special and expecting guys to step up and be difference makers this year.
Re: 2024-25 OVC
Fairland lost a lot of scoring from last year. Also a new coach.
Ironton new coach and lost 6 seniors.
Gallia returns a good guard , but do they have others who will step up.
Coal Grove will struggle I believe.
Rock Hill has started to improve from the past few years.
South Point will surprise a few I believe.
Portsmouth will be quick but may struggle scoring .
The Peake should be the favorite to win the conference with returning 4 starters from the regional final team from last year. Also you will see playing timefrom sophomores Andrew Isaacs and 6'6" Andy Chapman plus the one we call COOP and Dennis Scarberry. Played well together during summer ball playing a lot of different division schools. Including Cincinnati schools and a 5A from Indiana.
In the OVC on any night there could be an upset or two.
This is just my opinion not fact.

The adkins kid wasn’t anything special at burg maybe it works out for him at Portsmouth but when I watched him play he was a below average scorer. Also watched him hit a shot off the back of the rim vs Portsmouth a couple years ago, hope things go well for Portsmouth though I guessRolltribe4life wrote: Tue Oct 28, 2025 2:08 pm Give me Trojans with a near perfect season this year. You don’t think a kid can better, stronger and faster within 2 seasons lol? He won’t lead them in scoring by any means but he’s a good piece for sure.burgboy23 wrote: Tue Oct 28, 2025 6:12 pmThe adkins kid wasn’t anything special at burg maybe it works out for him at Portsmouth but when I watched him play he was a below average scorer. If you say so Thomas and woods are all they have got will each have to average 20+ to win 10+ games

Not true, Berry & Greene can both go as freshmen. Wouldn’t be shocked at all if Berry leads them in scoring some nights.burgboy23 wrote: Tue Oct 28, 2025 7:40 pmBuckeyeBlood wrote: Tue Oct 28, 2025 6:46 pmYou don’t think a kid can better, stronger and faster within 2 seasons lol? Re: 2024-25 OVC
BuckeyeBlood makes a good point about Logan Adkins......he hasn't played in 2 years due to recovering from a knee injury. From what I have seen from Logan recently, he is fully recovered and his game looks solid. I agree with his assessment of Greene and Berry......they will figure in the varsity's success but at the same time they will play both JV and varsity. Coach Smith wants to maximize the 6 quarters allowed.
I think it is premature to dismiss Portsmouth as a contender for the OVC title. Chesapeake for sure should be the favorite, and I believe Gallia will challenge them, but the Trojans won't look anything like the 7-15 team from a year ago. One thing that could make a big difference in the Trojans' record is that they will have much more depth this season, probably being able to get good minutes from 9-10 players.
For once PHS has some size in the starting lineup and off the bench. 6-5 Olynshay McKinley, 6-3 Mekhi Berry, 6-2 Logan Adkins, 6-2 Liam Livingston, and 6-2 O'Ryan Graybell. They haven't had that much size for quite a few years.
The Trojans have a lot to prove to be in the conversation about the OVC race, but this season could very well be one in which the program takes a big turn upward, regardless of where they finish in the standings.

This will probably be one of Fairland's down years, but I believe the peake will win the conference easily

Speed did an amazing job over the years but saw what the future was and chose greener pastures in administration. I wouldn’t close the door on another gig at some point.dragons77 wrote: Thu Oct 30, 2025 11:07 am This will probably be one of Fairland's down years, but I believe the peake will win the conference easily

Dee Parker? What did he do last year his defense was decent but more out of control if anything
Re: 2024-25 OVC
Chesapeake should win the conference . Fairland will be down , im guessing a .500 season . Portsmouth might give Chesapeake some trouble but I doubt it.

In regards to Fairland being down, I'll have to see it to believe it. The Dragons haven't seen a down year for at least a decade.
