Waverly Tigers 2025-26

Post by smurray »

The Tigers return nearly everyone from last year as Teryn Jarrett takes over the helm.
Waverly has not had a senior laden team since the 2022 Final Four squad, and that holds true again this season.
With no Juniors on last years team, the Tigers return no one as a senior. Are there any seniors who will join the returning underclassmen?

Who else is playing besides the ones listed below?

SENIORS:

JUNIORS:
Teagan Hurt
Davion McBride
Gunnar Myers
Sawyer Meyers
Hez Nelson
Landyn Russell

SOPHOMORES:
Kage Alexander
Kale Knisley
Garrett Rosenberger
Braylon Spriggs

FRESHMAN:
Kaiser Keesee

Should be much improved record wise, but length will still give them some issues on the perimeter and if they can't get consistent outside scoring, they could really struggle to score at times.

You have to like having your starting five back from a district runner up team, although they did lose 9 straight heading into the tournament last year before pulling two upsets to get to the Convo.

I liked what McBride was able to do in the JV games I saw last year, plus Keesee could help get Alexander off the ball and into more of a scoring role, which could make them even more interesting as well.

Hope the Tiger faithful give Jarrett the time and support to allow him to establish and build a program that has long term success. The lack of upperclassmen hints that the Final Four push may have come at the cost of development.

Not lack of upperclassmen, just seniors. Maybe you are right about development, but this is also the same group of seniors who only have about 3 kids who play football. That senior class just doesn’t have a ton of boys who are participating in athletics, not just one particular sport.

Waverly through 7th grade. Went to Unioto last year 8th grade. He’s back home at Waverly now.

Would like to think this group will be extremely competitive. With the experience this should have been a 16-18 win team. However, browsing through their schedule - it is relentless. Night in night out is going to be a battle.

Sometimes you have to re-learn how to win after the bumps and bruises a group like this has taken. This team is right in the fire, though.
