Scrimmage, Previews and foundation games
Re: Scrimmage, Previews and foundation games
Minford pretty much dominated Meigs today 7/8 quarters. Really thought Meigs would be better with the preseason rankings and Hype around that team. They don’t lack for size, but they turned the ball over way too much. They have a tremendous Coach so I’m sure over the next few weeks they’ll be a different team. Minford was again without Jackson Shoemaker today. They played 8-9 guys in almost all the quarters. One of the deepest benches that Coach Shoemaker has had.
Overall, Montgomery for Minford was the best player on the court. #24 for Meigs and Keyser for Minford looked to be the second and third best on the floor in no order.
Scores as I remember:
8-7 Minford
14-5 Minford
11-9 Minford
12-10 Meigs
26-14 Minford
16-12 Minford
15-10 Minford

Yup. I’d expect it out of some other schools. Not from mine though. Fact is they were fine in the season they cut him before. They’ll be fine again without the side show. You can’t be 6’8 and shoving around on an 80 year old man no matter how frustrated you are.Jeeps06 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 29, 2024 7:03 amI 100% agree Roberts doesn't deserve to wear the Webster jersey anymore in my opinion I was tired of his attitude a couple years ago at the minford gameThe Ghost of Swanker wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 10:06 pm Guess we’ll see. Re: Scrimmage, Previews and foundation games
Minford and Meigs was a really good scrimmage. Both teams played 8 quarters and got after it. It was a very physical scrimmage but both teams competed hard.
Meigs is really big and will be really good. Their 6’8 big is their best shooter and can stretch the floor. Their coach lets them play they will get much better after today. Their weakness is guard play, as Minford flat out wore them down after two quarters and Meigs had a slew of turnovers. If they get teams in a half court game, I don’t know if many area teams that could play with them.
Minford was very impressive. They pressed the entire 8 quarters. Montgomery has the best motor and probably had 10+ steals. Kayser is an offensive machine. I was most impressed with their depth. Didn’t expect that. They are playing 9 guys and the role players press well and hit open shots. Depth has always been an issue for Minford, so it was good to see them play that deep. And this was without Shiemaker playing today. Good to see new faces come out and contribute this year. The freshman Donahoe is a great athlete and will keep getting better. Their defense and conditioning was the difference maker. As the scrimmage went on, they just wore Meigs down and continued to press and push the ball the entire scrimmage.
Great last tune up for both teams. Each should have a very successful season.

Solid scrimmage for both teams. I imagine it’ll help Meigs guard play when the two in travel suits are back on the court. One I believe was the Brinager kid who makes a huge difference on both ends.tonylip wrote: ↑Fri Nov 29, 2024 4:19 pm Minford and Meigs was a really good scrimmage. Yes that game is now the 14th. Green is the opener on Friday
Re: Scrimmage, Previews and foundation games
Webster should be ashamed to have that kid on the court.... should have been ashamed before this... is anyone really surprised? If you are you've never seen him play
Re: Scrimmage, Previews and foundation games
Is there any scrimmages involving South Webster tomorrow

Re: Scrimmage, Previews and foundation games
As good as Roberts is, his attitude and disposition is three times worse. If all of this is true, then he should not be allowed back on the team. No player, no matter how good, is bigger than the team or the game. If somehow, someway, Norm gets overrun on the decision, then he’s done. As far back as I can recall, Coach Persin has a ZERO tolerance policy on something like this. Although, I have a weird feeling that Roberts might be playing and Norm will not be there.

Hope you’re wrong BUT I’d say you’re right. Life lessons vs short-term is ultimate goal of high school athletics-winning is a by-product of the combination.Jason Vorhees wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2024 10:23 am As good as Roberts is, his attitude and disposition is three times worse. As a fan I would rather lose one player then an entire coaching staffJason Vorhees wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2024 10:23 am As good as Roberts is, his attitude and disposition is three times worse. If this happens, I wouldn’t blame the kids for doing a mass exodus and everyone quitting in protest. It would be horrible if that happens. Now if I’m not mistaken , isn't Norm’s son-in-law the superintendent? That makes me think his decision would be final.Jason Vorhees wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2024 10:23 am As good as Roberts is, his attitude and disposition is three times worse. Yes Norm's son in law is the superintendent, if Roberts is dismissed from the team I look for Webster to be posting a principal openingOVC wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2024 1:36 pmIf this happens, I wouldn’t blame the kids for doing a mass exodus and everyone quitting in protest. It showed for about the first 5 games last year. And no need to drag Brett on here. Sometimes the apple rolls down the hill really far away from the tree.
