I know he left before his senior year, but Brigham Waginger was insane every time I saw him at Ironton

Jeff Jackson and Chris Barnes made up one of the best backcourts in Ironton history.
Ty Davis could flat out fill it up too!!!

To this day he is the best defensive player I’ve ever seen in the SE district

The best pure shooters to ever play at Ironton were Ralph Snead, Charlie Kitchen and Dennis Gagai.. The best long range deep shooters were Gagai and Kitchen

I should have included Waginger. Big part of Ironton’s best team ever. Game may have turned differently had he not been in foul trouble in finals. Plus he had real success at the next level.

Not salty in the least. Ironton has won the transfer game more than they’ve lost. Glad he won a state title. More glad their record had a one on it. Probably the best game environment I’ve ever seen for HS basketball.

What about Fitzpatrick (I think) that played at Rio in the mid 70's?

I guess if being the best player to come out of Ironton
Is bases solely on playing defense then I guess Wags might be. But there's more to it than just that.

I can say that head to head Gagai beat Waginger and South Websters state championship team. Puts Gagai in front in my opinion.

Also Ironton;s State final game was led by Cliff Howard. They wouldn't have been there without him
