Best conference in SE Ohio this year (and most years)

One is guaranteed to be in the Elite 8, should have a couple of chances to reach Dayton

Agree with Dani, this year they were the best conference. Last two years I thought it was the OVC. It goes in waves. This just happened to be a big year for the conference. Minford could have played with anyone in SEO D3 but unfortunately faced Burg. Webster could have played with anyone in SEO D4 but unfortunately faced Valley.

I gonna be like those Missouri fans chanting “SEC” when Alabama wins another national title!

Seriously though, I can’t remember SOC II being this deep. SOC I was also obviously better than I gave them credit for. Wishing all teams good luck at Regionals and hoping someone makes it out to State*

These are the SOC1 and SOC2 Teams that have made the State Tournament previously (alphabetical order):

Franklin Furnace (Green): 1939
Latham (Western): 1942, 1968
Lucasville (Valley): 1936, 1937
Oak Hill: 2009 (DIV State Champion)
Portsmouth Clay: 1969
South Webster: 2004, 2006 (DIV State Champion)
Waterloo (Symmes Valley): 1934 (Class B State Champion), 1935 (Class B State Champion), 1941
Waverly: 1970
Wheelersburg: 1982, 1984 (State Runner Up), 1989, 1995 (State Runner Up), 2006, 2007.

That’s 19 State Tournament Appearances as a collective with 4 State Championships and 2 State Runner’s Up.

That's always been an interesting thing to note.. South Webster is technically the Regional Champion in 2005...... but they don't count as a state tournament appearance.

I'm not sure they could have won it all that year with a loaded Lutheran East in the final, but I definitely think they could have gotten close if not. People forget that team was ranked 4th in the state and only lost one game all season -- a buzzer beater on the road to a very good Wheelersburg squad. Africentric was an absolute buzz saw and that was proven the rest of the tournament.

I’ll always believe we could’ve got it done that year if not for the Nubians. At least we got one out of three of those years. Played in the regionals in 07 too after graduating most of the state team.

Also was 4 points away in 2014? From a state north under Ater

In the years 1925 to 1942, the number of teams that qualified for the State Tournament was quite different. They ranged from 8 to 16 teams each year until they settled on the four team for each division format.

They still count as State Tournament Appearances. Forgot about Glenwood:

1938, 1960, and 2021.

You are correct, they still count as State Tournament. My point was just additional information.
