Ross/Pike County Power Rankings - Week 3

Post by Snotnose »

1. Waverly - no knee jerk reaction here to their loss to Minford. Bounced back nicely with two blow out victories. Still the top of the mountain out of the teams in Ross and Pike counties.
2. Unioto - our only undefeated team remaining. Solidified they are the front runners in the SVC with their win over ZT. Have closed the gap some this week on the top team.
3. ZT - there’s just something amiss about this squad early on. Turnovers, inconsistent offense, and lack of discipline at times have plagued this team. Unusual because of the veteran returners on this roster. Still athletic, big, and very dangerous.
4. Western - just as they were going to move into the top 3 of the rankings, they drop one Tuesday evening on the road at New Boston. The team ahead of them has two losses to Division II teams, which slightly gives them a nudge above.
5. Chillicothe - hardest team to rank each week. Huge win over WCH! No way the teams below them can pull off a feat like this.
6. PV - can we just go ahead and give them an 11-11 record for the regular season. This team is destined to play .500 basketball over the course of the year. As stated in earlier rankings, the inconsistency has to have their fans in complete spin mode. A couple of wins over the weekend, you can bet the trend will be followed by a couple of losses in their next contests. Dealing with an injury loss though, never want to see that happen.
7. Piketon - picked up another win over the past week, and had Unioto within a couple of possessions at halftime. Seem to be the most consistent out of the teams remaining below them in the rankings. Not having a true PG, might keep this team from competing at a higher level.
8. Eastern - big movers up the rankings. Their four game win streak was snapped by Wheelersburg on Tuesday night. That loss still convincing enough to prove they are playing at a better level than the first week of the season.
9. Huntington - couple of losses to start league play, with tough matchups In PV and ZT. Nothing to spark a change, as they firmly hold onto their number 9 spot. Interesting weekend coming up as they play two teams ranked below them.
10. SE - moved down the rankings this week. Competed well and beat VC to start this early season, but just competing well only goes so far. Must come away with a victory to justify everything and did not do that over the course of the week.
11. Adena - still winless on the young season. Have a lot of work to do in order to escape from the bottom of the rankings.

Unioto is actually 4-1 (WCH), so I think there are no more unbeatens after Western fell last night.

Huntington has been playing without Caleb Smith, so if he’s back, that’s a huge help for them, especially with their schedule for this weekend

Thanks for the correction on Unioto’s undefeated record. And then there were…zero undefeated teams from the land of Ross and Pike counties

... good stuff ! I enjoy reading other peoples takes on the teams we see, follow ... be careful snotnose! pfloyd started doing only the Elite 8 teams along with 93bulldog, it quickly morphed into following, getting information about all 71 teams in the SE district LOL !!! keep up the good work each week !

No worries pfloyd!! Don’t have the time or energy to take on that monumental task. People have no idea the effort, time, homework, strategy, and love of the game that goes into your weekly work on here. Truly legendary stuff
