Warren 54 New Philadelphia 48

Post by hoopsfan »

Due to a nice facebook stream by New Philadelphia, got to watch a good game. New Philadelphia has good length across the board and play a tough, physical brand of defense. The game was physical from the start and consistently called throughout. The game was close early and the Warriors made a nice second quarter run to take a 26-21 halftime edge. The first half saw Brayden Sallee score 12 and Seth Dennis score 6 while assisting a couple of nice scores as well. New Philadelphia put together a nice third quarter to take a 36-34 lead into the fourth, and the Warriors also lost big man Jake Baumgard to injury. The fourth quarter saw the score tied at 38 when the Warriors got three point goals from Kurt Taylor and Seth Dennis on back to back possessions to take charge. The Warriors held the lead from there and posted a nice victory. Brayden Sallee was a force all game and had 12 rebounds to go with 20 points. Seth Dennis made some terrific transition passes, scored 9 points in the fourth quarter, and finished with 15 points and 7 assists. Kurt Taylor and Jake Baumgard scored 7 each. Of note is that the Warriors defense and depth across the board is impressive. Joel Chevalier and Josh Welch both provide the Warriors with an impressive defensive team. New Philadelphia has a nice core of players and play several sophomores in their rotation. They are a good team, but will be a great team in the future it appears. Carter Vandall is a very good sophomore with good length and strength and according to the broadcast of the game is a 90% free throw shooter. He led the Quakers with 12 points on the evening. Guards Vickers and Roth both look to be good shooters, and they have a solid interior as well. They will be a tough team in the East District playoffs for sure.
