West had ball down 4.
Got fouled and Waverly Coach got a technical. Should have gotten another and been tossed. Hollering and starring down the official.

West made 4 shots got ball and missed shot
Fouled Waverly. Made one
West drove and got fouled. Made 2
Waverly missed at buzzer

In this conference that tech probably cost them a shot at half the gold ball.

Good dub Winators

Probably. It was stupid. But you've watched Waverly, they are extremely talented, but they could literally have the whole team foul out the way they play. For Robertson to complain about Fouls is rediculous

Wow! 30 point turnaround from the first game. Congrats to Portsmouth West, very few people ( including myself ) thought you could beat the Tigers at Waverly.

You’re not wrong. Being overly physical beyond reason has been Waverly basketball for years. But hey if they don’t call it Then more power to them.

It just makes an ugly game.
There is no way you will advance far in tournament play putting every game you play against good competition in the hands of the officials. You will win alot, you may win some you shouldn't, but eventually it will cost you

.50 to play Stulley with 2 FT’s Waverly up 55-49
.35 to play Moore with a bucket Waverly up 55-51 and West Timeout
Officials put more time back on the clock.
.36 to play Robertson 1-2 FT’s Waverly up 56-51

.21 to play Coleman to the line. Makes the first to cut to 56-52
Coleman misses the 2nd, Waverly with the rebound and Stulley with a text book box out on Coleman with 19.6 to play. You think Stulley is going to the line but Ref calls a foul on Stulley and the place goes nuts. Travis is livid and gets a T.
Howard steps up and makes both FT’s for the technical to cut it to 56-54. The refs keep Howard on the line to shoot the FT’s Coleman should be shooting (on the foul called on Stulley for the box out) and he makes the first. Waverly fans going crazy, Waverly players and coaches trying to let the officials know it wasn’t Howard. The officials get together to discuss and finally figure out it should be Coleman. Take off the point and it’s still 56-54 with Coleman coming back to the line. Coleman who just missed the second FT that started the whole mess calmly sinks both to tie it at 56.
West inbounds but fails to score and fouls Wheeler with .09 to play. Gage makes the first but misses the second and Dixon is fouled in the lane with 3.3 to play. Dixon calmly sinks both for the win.

FOURTH QUARTER FT’s
West 10-12
Waverly 7-18
5 of Waverly’s misses came down the stretch with the lead... also 0-3 in the third.

FT’s is your ballgame.

I didn't think west had enough to close it out but they fought til the end, good win for west. I stand corrected.

Exactly
We will find out if these Tigers are going to fight for the season or cash it in. They looked really good at Fairfield Union after being off 3 weeks but it seems like they haven’t been the same since the Wheelersburg loss. Great teams bounce back - they haven’t bounced back yet. Today is very important for this Tiger team moving forward.

I of course didn't see it, nor do I know the Whole Story, but if I read right, the Personal Foul was called first, Then a Technical foul was called. So the Common Fouls should have been shot first, then the Technical Fouls should have been shot 2nd. It's the order in which they happen. Ball goes to midcourt for a throw in.

Cluster.

The right players shot the shots regardless of the order and they're both good free throw shooters

West didn't score on the inbounds and actually committed a foul giving Waverly free throws and the lead.

Officiating was bad, but that is caused alot by Waverly's style of play. They ride every dribbler, reach and slap. Honestly if they call the game tight they would be in significant foul trouble

This is every game in the SVC. They just want the games over as fast as possible.

You need to watch this game - Waverly played bad and missed a ton of FT's but man oh man, what a cluster as Lucas commented..

Waverly is very talented. West's length and athleticism out of the zones caused the smaller Waverly guards problems. To hold Robertson to 14 points is outstanding. But the shooting is a result of the pressure. After a while, even when you're open you rush shots and that seems to translate to the free throw line.

Waverly pressure is man to man up on you. They are extremely quick and physical. Its basically AAU Basketball. Alot of times the refs let it go but there is no way they are not gonna have alot of fouls

Surprising hearing a West fan say the officiating was bad considering how the game was called and especially the way it ended. The same official made every foul call in the last minute as well as the technical foul LOL took over the game himself. Waverly played poorly and did not handle the 1-3-1 zone well but let’s not forget they were up four points with very little time left. A touch call on Robertson in the final seconds and a foul call on Futhey bailing out a West player falling out of bounds.

With the way my kid is officiated every weekend I have zero sympathy for other teams/players. It’s amazing to me how our league officiates our best players. Not just mine but the other top players as well.

Not just the SVC. Other leagues have it too. Not enough good crews out there.
