VC @ Meigs 1/26
Meigs is going into this KEY TVC-OHIO MATCHUP with 2 straight wins at Marietta and at NY. Can they keep it going against a sure to be Vengeful VC squad after that shocking loss to Athens on Tuesday night. Meigs doesn't have as much to lose as VC in the standings, but I am sure they are looking to make a statement that they aren't down and out and still looking for a favorable seed come tournament time. Does home court advantage play into this one? Thoughts???

I don't know ny, Meigs seems to be playing with a chip on their shoulder and have something to prove. Strange things happening in the TVC. I'm not counting any team out this year. Fry from Meigs will have a game plan and be studying that Athens and VC tape really hard. Does he change his go to 1-3-1 to the 1-2-2 that Athens implemented?

I really don't know if they do, I know Athens is usually filmed by a tv crew. I'm sure some teams may scout by filming. I figure there is access to the tape if someone really wanted it.danicalifornia wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2018 12:57 amTeams in the TVC trade league tapes?VisionQuest wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2018 12:16 amI don't know ny, Meigs seems to be playing with a chip on their shoulder and have something to prove. Bartrum and Baer will Sondheim part, but don't have the other players to match up with VC other players. I see a big win from VC tonight, they will guard Baer close tonight and also trap Bartrum. Totally different team then Marietta and NY.

Yes, true. They just don't have any bigs, maybe the one kid. And with Eli Griffith easing back in to more playing time, it could get ugly. Meigs is scrappy though. Maybe I am wishful thinking, as far as the TVC-Ohio goes. The big and probably better game is next Friday when VC heads to the Alley.

I’ll be rooting for Meigs but VC probably rolls. Athens basically took Yates out of the game. I would think he has a big game tonight
Re: VC @ Meigs 1/26
Heard Meigs had 2 starters off the team for not making grades! That hurts them vc by 20 Yates will have a 20 point game and I think speakman will come out with a chip in his shoulder and put up 20 plus

I also look for Eli Griffith to have a double double. Against Athens he had limited minutes, still came up with 6 rebounds and a score. He is getting healed up and VC needs him to be healthy to make any type of run come tournament time.

I am not sure the 2 that are off the team because of grades would make a difference, but other people may be able to answer the question. I know the Baer kids has been the leader of the team since day 1. I think any team would like to have a sophomore leader on their team. He has stepped up on all their wins.
Re: VC @ Meigs 1/26
Has been a leader since day 1? Does he get in the huddle to encourage the team, has he led in any of the stats? Yes he is a good ball player and has had the luxury of of having leaders around him to take on some of the better defenders, When you have most teams defending Bartrum and was also guarding Mattox, a 3rd good guard can put up some points.Hornetz_Fan32 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2018 3:28 pm I am not sure the 2 that are off the team because of grades would make a difference, but other people may be able to answer the question. As a Freshman, he averaged 5 points a game. This year he has averaged 17 points a game.
Bartrum is just behind him averaging 14 ppg. this season and averaged 8 ppg his Sophomore Season.
Pretty sure that this is just someone related or a close friend trying to play the whole Baer versus Mattox thing in who is better. And doing so just to try to stir the pot on here. Sorry, not gonna happen, I like how Baer plays, Meigs was a better team with Mattox on it, Mattox averaged 10 ppg his Sophomore year (wasn't a starter), 14 ppg his jr year (didn't start til midway though season) and was averaging 18 ppg his Senior season. Should have been on Varsity his Freshman year and even without doing that he had a chance to hit the 1,000 points this season. Put up 618 points in 2-1/2 seasons. He was vocal on the court to his teammates and he always tried to get the crowd into the game.
Yeah he is my son and yes I will talk him up, but the numbers back up my talk. Did I mention he played half the season with no ACL.
With all that being said, I truly hope that Baer gets his name up on that 1,000 point banner at Meigs High School. My son thinks highly of him and was saying he should have been a starter lat season.

It matters who is on the team now. Whomever they may be. They are dedicated to the team and hopefully continue on the winning roll the the baer and Bartrum kid has them on. Never give up!

Halftime vc 38 meigs 17 meigs was up 10-4 vc went on a 14-run to end the first and into the second quarter

Re: VC @ Meigs 1/26
Combs took the starters out with 6:37 left in the fourth. Vikings started out slow and was down 10-4 early. Went on a huge run and ended up 21 at the half. Great game for the Vikings after the loss to Athens. Keep it rolling, tournament seedlings are in two weeks.
