Yea, that was just a list of returning players from this years Varsity Roster. I hope you're right, the next few years should be interesting for the Fighting Tigers with the talent coming up.

Irontons Freshmen to be, Ryan Bryant 6'3 SG makes the King James Shooting Stars AAU Roster.

Bryant tugged on that King James Shooting Stars jersey for the first time this weekend at the Battle of the Borders Tournament in Louisville. He had quite the debut with a team-high 14 points along with 10 rebounds and six assists in a win over HBL. The Shooting Stars played five games and Bryant got the start in each. He finished with 72 points, 39 rebounds, 26 assists and six steals.

ohbuckeye2: I would say based on what you posted above that the Bryant kid has a good shot at starting on the varsity in 2015-2016. The Fighting Tigers will be in need of offense, and if he can provide it, Coach Lafon will find a spot for him, either as a starter or a sub getting good minutes. Ironton could also use his size (6-3) in addition to his skills. I remember that Coach Lafon gave Zac Carter and Trey Fletcher a lot of playing time as freshmen.

Portsmouth's Kyre Allison is on pace to become the Trojans' all time leading scorer. With almost 1,200 points through his junior year, Kyre should pass current leader Craig Tubbs (1,485 pts.--graduated 1979) around the middle of the season. I'm also looking for Kendal Reynolds to have an outstanding junior season at PHS, considering he scored 89 points in 5 tournament games this past season. Ethan Leonard shot around 50% from 3 point land and 92% from the FT line, and I look for him to give solid support to Allison and Reynolds. He had 3 or 4 games in double figures with a high of 15. Ethan only became a starter the last 8-9 games of the regular season.

I agree, I think he has a good shot at starting or getting a lot of minutes. Coach Lafon has one of those classes coming up (Freshmen to be) that can be special if they keep working hard.

Should have been Wheelersburg in 2007 for a 4 year reign from Southeast Ohio. They were by far the best team that year in DIII but had the bad first half against NCH and it cost them the title, IMO.

[quote="FrenchtownFan"]Look out for Lynchburg if the player who was dismissed is back. He's an outstanding player and will be a senior.

He'll be back . . . . . . If they can find him.

Some coach will Have a field day with that. A couple bad calls on him, 2 or 3 hard fouls , kid flips out again, intentionally injures opposing player, some family sues the board/district because they let a known danger to participants play. Dont worry, some nut lawyer lay in waiting. Sad situation.

Sounds like the kid needs some help that doesn't involve basketball. I hope it works out for him and his team.

If the new enrollment numbers are true, Portsmouth at 233 will be heading up to D2! Waverly up to 222 will likely move up to D2 as well.

Minford with 180 will be back down to D3
I know it has been suggested that divisions will not change for this year, but on that link it says divisions will be determined in the coming months

I know one thing, D3 can't get any worse than what it was last year. Wow was it bad. If Minford drops down, they very well could make a deep tourney run with the far weaker d3

Apparently Portsmouth's enrollment is still in question due to kids living in the Portsmouth City School District but going to Sciotoville. The 233 figure may drop significantly because of this.

Looking at the data from 2013 on the Ohio Dept. of Education website, I think Portsmouth enrollment could be correct. They had classes of 86 and 95 (total students) replaced with classes of 148 and 135. The third class in the count is 133. That makes a total of 416 students with approximately 55% boys would put you around the 230 mark.

Appeals are due by next week, then once all of those are addressed it will become official. I guess that length of time really depends on how many appeals there are.

Portsmouth's initial enrollment of 233 has been changed, after appeal, to 190 per the OHSAA website.
