You are a wise man 78! Urban, made sure of that b-4 the offer. Now that that Gibson has moved the Buckeyes to the top Burrow needs all the time with the coaches as possible!
I got $20.00 says he plays basketball for Athens ... want to jump on that, moonshine?

I will consult my sources and confirm all info! Then I will raise the stakes and see if the puppy has any bite!

Unless your source is Joe's dad, Jimmy Burrow, don't go betting your entire bank account moonshine.

My source has an OSU Connection! Maybe a high class dinner at the HHD or Millers chicken in puppyland!

Elaboration would be that Vinton is not that good of a DII team. Haven't been for awhile.

No. I didn't ask your opinion, I'm wondering what your reasoning is? Have you seen them over the summer or know something we don't?

Going off of what they have accomplished in recent years, they are NOT a top DII team, and with the exception of one or two years has never been a top DII team. They muddle around with a bunch of DIII competition as the bulk of their schedule. Now, when I have seen them, I admire how hard their kids play and I believe they are well coached, they are just not a solid DII team.

Obviously, you are a student.

I just hope, for the sake of the Warren School District, you are not a student of either Barlow Middle School or Warren High School.

Vinton COUNTY ARE pretenders.

Bad English or not; VINTON COUNTY ARE pretenders.

Furthermore, elaboration means, to provide facts, to support your argument. Simply stating, "Going off of what they have accomplished in recent years, they are NOT a top DII team..." is not fact. It is your opinion. Fortunately for you, you have me as a resource to guide you in the ways of providing factual information.

If we use your stated period of time, "...recent years..." there are significant amounts of information that you need to have cataloged in your young adolescent mind before making bold and unproven assumptions.

First, Coach Maddox and Coach Combs are contemporaries, (meaning, they are sharing the same time period or era), and their records are almost identical. Each, holding over 220 wins in their relatively young careers.

Secondly, Athens, Vinton County, and Warren all have the same number of district titles in "...recent years..," one. Vinton County winning theirs in 2008 and Athens and Warren winning theirs in 2013. Ahem...psst...just so you know, Warren beat Vinton County in the district finals in 2013 to win their title. One more thing, just so you know, again using your "...recent years..." time period and what I believe you to use to base your over-reaching opinion to the "...top DII team..." prognostication, well, that would be Logan Elm. The Braves have won multiple district titles. I believe they have four. Therefore, it could be argued that neither Athens, Vinton County, or Warren is the "...top DII team..." in the area. In fact, before returning to DI, Chillicothe was not a "pretender" winning five or six district titles. It could be said that Athens and Warren are "pretenders."

Next, while The Vikings "...muddle around..." with what you believe to be inferior competition that be or not in the Tri-Valley Conference, (the same conference that Warren has asked to join several times), The Vikings are very successful against schools that are DII and above in "...recent years..." of course. For example, if we just look at The Vikings record against the SEOAL in "...recent years..." a league full of DII teams, you will see the following:

2000-01 - 1 – 3 (Win against Logan, Losses, Jackson, Athens, Gallia)
2001-02 - 1 – 2 (Win against Jackson, Losses, Logan, Athens)
2002-03 - 1 – 2 (Win against Athens, Losses, Jackson, Warren)
2003-04 - 3 – 0 (Wins, Athens X2, Jackson)
2004-05 - 2 – 2 (Wins, Athens, Warren, Losses, Jackson, Gallia)
2005-06 - 2 – 1 (Wins, Athens, Jackson, Loss, Warren)
2006-07 - 4 – 1 (Wins, Athens X2, Jackson, Warren, Loss, Chillicothe)
2007-08 - 2 – 1 (Wins, Athens, Jackson, Loss, Chillicothe)
2008-09 - 3 – 0 (Wins, Logan, Jackson, Gallia)
2009-10 - 0 – 2 (Losses, Logan, Jackson)
2010-11 - 1 – 2 (Win against Logan, Losses, Jackson, Marietta)
2011-12 - 2 – 1 (Wins against Gallia, Jackson and Loss to Logan)
2012-13 - 3 – 1 (Wins against Jackson, Gallia, Logan, and Loss to Warren)
2013-14 - 2 – 1 (Wins against Jackson, Logan, and a Loss to Gallia)

27 – 19 record, a .587 winning percentage.

Lastly, The Vikings have a significant winning percentage against other conferences, with the exception of the Mid-State League, The Vikings are 0-4, all losses coming at the hands of Logan Elm.

There you have it. That is how you present an argument based on empirical evidence.

Now, to continue your lesson, you could say that Vinton County has not been as talented as Warren and I am not sure anyone would disagree with you. The Warren community and Coach Maddox have been blessed with some very good talent; however, to blatantly dismissed the Vikings as "pretenders" is more of a statement about you, than a credible statement of The Vikings.

Stay in school, my friend.
