Centennial has really improved its program over the last few years.........Ironton is really good, and are tough at home, but the Stars won't be intimidated playing there, considering the competition that they play on a regular basis.

Trojans are off Saturday, I will probably be at the Conley Center to see this one.

If you look at a breakdown of numbers, the 2 teams are similar. The numbers I looked at are ave. points for, ave. points against, ave. differential, ave. margin in victories and winning percentage.
    PFA PAA ADiff AMV WP
    Centennial - 73.67 58.33 15.34 21.43 77.8%
    Ironton - 69.91 53.73 16.18 20.89 81.8%

Centennial brings a seasoned, senior-laden team to Ironton Saturday night, featuring 4 double figure scorers: Boo Osborne (17ppg), CJ Stephens (11ppg), Gyai Gyamerah (10ppg), and Christian Cumberlander (13ppg).

Osborne is the most heralded of the bunch, having been rated the 8th best shooting guard in Ohio by Triple Double Prospects. Triple Double also describes Osborne as very unselfish, and one of the state's top 5 passers. He averaged 7.7 assists per game last year, and recently recorded a triple-double in a 2OT win over Mifflin, when he scored 10, dished 14, and yanked 11 rebounds. He is said to be training under Columbus hoops guru Anthony Rhodman, who is credited with having developed the skills of Michigan standout Trey Burke. Osborne also happens to be the son of Centennial Head Coach Roosevelt Osborne. The Tigers will certainly have their hands full with Osborne, and with the overall balanced scoring presented by Centennial.

One intriguing game played last month by Centennial was down in Charleston, WV against George Washington. GW has a strong program, having been AAA state champs in WV in 2011, and AAA state runnerups in 2012. GW handled Centennial by a score of 66-56 thanks to 12 free throws converted by GW's star guard, Luke Eddy, an early commit to D-I Elon of the Southern Conference. At 7-3, GW is again a solid, but not a spectacular team, having lost games already to Capital, South Charleston, and future Ironton opponent Huntington (the Highlanders won that one by 65-55).

The Tigers are not without their own stars, including Zac Carter (rated the 12th best point guard in Ohio by Triple Double Prospects and the 115th best in the nation by ESPN), and Trey Fletcher (rated the 9th best power forward by Triple Double). Carter is coming off his personal best 44 points last Saturday at Peebles, where Fletcher tallied 25 points and snared 18 rebounds. But the Tigers will need more than just these two to match Centennial. Fortunately, Trevor White has been gaining steam with his inside presence and contribution to the Ironton attack, and could be a difference maker. The Tigers will also welcome back strongman Aaron Stephens from his weekend gridiron trip to help clog up the lane. Glover, Bowling, and Cox will also have to provide strong minutes.

One thing for sure - the Tigers will have to play better defense than they displayed against Peebles. Centennial's overall skill, athleticism, and ballhandling behind Osborne can make Ironton pay for too much double-teaming and overplaying, so the Tigers may need to defend a bit more honestly and closer to the vest than usual.

Centennial, a D-II school in Ohio, will likely bring a 9-2 record into the Conley Center Saturday night.

The Tigers Defense will have to pick it up in this one, looks like the Stars are a scoring machine averaging 78.5 PPG while giving up 57.4 PPG.

Looks like this will be another chance for Zac to show he can score on bigger guards. Id say the 6'3 Sr guard, referred to in the roster as the main guy will be guarding ours. Id like to see Ironton come ouut strong and really put on a good performance.
