Does anyone know if our area has ever had an athlete get Ohio Player of the year football and then have another athlete get Ohio POY in basketball in the same year? That's a great accomplishment for our area and those two young men!! Congrats to everyone on this list!

How did Mckinley get D3 POY and McMaster is playing in the North South game instead of him? I would assume that the 2 have no barring on the other, it just seems odd to me. This is also not a shot at either play they would both be deserving of either honor, its' almost contradicting that your good enough to represent all of D3 but not the Southern part of the state.

I believe they are both playing that game. McKinley is the D14 rep and McMasters the D13 rep.

Thanks Jimmy I thought we only had on rep per division. Do we have a District 13 rep for the D1-2 game along with Kretzer-D14

I believe that Chapman is playing in this game from D13.

Unfortunately, because these awards are typically awarded to upperclassmen......I had a similar gripe about the junior heavy team us Trojans had last year....yet we got hardly any love. This year, we're mainly seniors.....don't worry Ironton fans......they'll get their due! Next year is your year, for sure!!

Does anyone know exactly how they select these Teams, what are they looking at?

The All-State teams seem to pay more attention to teams who make long tourny runs. I think they do give more weight to Seniors, especially Seniors who have been making All League/District/State teams while they were underclassmen = name recognition I believe plays a big part.
