When this game was set i thought i would be a good one also. But i dont think Athens will be very well prepared for this game. The have played one team close to the caliber of Chesapeake and that was Warren and imo Peake is alot beter than warren! I say Peake 25+.

Peake will win. I'm just gonna say they will win by double didgets.

This game can be heard on 970 WATH-AM in Athens, with Grant Burkhardt and Rob Schreier on the call. Pre-game coverage begins at 7:45, with the tip at 8.

You can listen live to the broadcast at http://athensi.com (click the WATH AM link on the page's right side).

Thanks, and good luck to both teams!

This could get ugly for Athens, lets hope they hang close.

On a side note for Athens there is an interesting article in todays Athens Messenger on Coach Skinner. It's on page 4 in letters to the editor and titled PUNISHED FOR ENTHUSIASM. I'm not sure what to make of it.

Greatone- could you possibly post a link if its online?

Should be an easy win for Peake. Would've been a better matchup last year.

Should be a game the Panthers can win if they do't get caught looking ahead. I like their chances at home. GO PEAKE!!!!!!!!!

I was at the Athens/Meigs game and I can tell you that the actions of that woman may have been partly "enthusiasm" but it was more "antagonism." She sat 4 rows directly behind the Athens bench (which is literally on the bleachers in that particular gym), and shouted and screamed through a big megaphone similar to the ones used by OU Bobcat cheerleaders. For most of the game she yelled at the Meigs players and what appeared to be her own son. But down the stretch as things got more intense, she started pointing her megaphone toward the Athens bench and shouting at them rather than over them. That's when coach Skinner asked the official if they could do something about it. The official removed the megaphone from her, but immediately there was a timeout, at which point she leaned over as far as she could, almost right over the shoulders of the team and coaches, cupped her hands to her mouth and started screaming as loud as she could. That's when the deputies (on their own accord) came and escorted her out of the gym.

On a side note, I would be hard-pressed to give the Athens Messenger any more quotes if I were Coach Skinner. There's nothing like biting one of the hands that feeds you. I wonder if anyone from the Messenger staff was even at the game in Meigs that night to see what actually took place. Coach Skinner was very patient for 28 minutes of basketball before he finally with 3 minutes left (and likely a splitting headache) asked if something could be done.

I say great win for the Panthers. You might question why I say GREAT? Well on paper and on the floor it didn't look great. All I can say is the Panthers were flat, without the defensive intensity and flow on offense but still won. A very good team will still win under these conditions. Give the Athens young men credit, they came to play and have some very athletic kids. Now lets get refocused and get ready for a tough battle with a very talented Logan WV. team on Monday night.

One other thing, the beast of the Southeast tourney was again another major success. Thanks to Coach Davis, his staff, Mr. Ross and all his volenteers and of course all the participating teams. One great day of H.S. basketball.

I really thought the score would be much more lopsided.

A competitive game from start to finish. Athens jumped out to a 11-3 lead, and trailed by 2 heading into the 4th. Great atmosphere, terrific event. The Bulldogs ran out of gas ( the long trip and double ot thriller the night before may have been a factor) Chesapeake is terrific, and were terrific hosts. Proud of the way the Bulldogs handled themselves. They certainly did represent.
