There is something called the"mob mentality" (sp) so when that ref is looking into the stands he is trying to make eye contact with the person who is doing alot of the yelling, sometimes that will stop the yelling because you've pulled that person from the mob. The big problem with that is if you find him/her and they challenge you then they have to leave. The best i've ever heard from the stands is "shake your head your eyes are stuck" the worst and most boring for us is "reaching in" "call the reach". Its legal to reach you just can't touch.

I would think anyone who has been thrown out of a game would be too embarrassed to mention it to anyone let alone start a thread to discuss it.

Im suprised someone didnt get tossed from the Peebles/South Point JV game today. The game was constantly interupted by a slew of mini skirmishes between a few of the players. I would have probably T-D up the entire SP team if I had been working the game.

I've been thrown out twice. Once at Burg for telling the ref he wasnt throwing anyone out (proved me wrong he did). The other at North Adams (deserved it but ive apologized to the ref and moved on)

I got thrown out one time in a Jr. high game by a ref and I was even yelling at him. I was yelling at my son but the ref just panicked and must have thought I was yelling at him. Sometimes people get thrown out when they should not .

Sparky,
The word approximately means about that many, an educated guess!!!! I was just trying to let people know that most officials show up to work hard and call a consistent game. I was just trying to let people know by my APPROXIMATE t's, etc.. that I don't show up to t up coaches or players, throw out fans. On the other hand, these calls are used to penalize a player or coach for their inappropriate behavior. If a fan wnats to come to a game use inappropriate language toward me or my partners or players then I will ask the AD or Police to escort them out of the gym. If you want to accuse me of cheating then that the same as above will happen. I don't expect fans to show up and sit quitely, boy would that be boring!!! I know that fans will voice their opinions on me and the two others I'm working with. It is okay to do this until you cross the LINE!!! (see above)

When you get thrown out of a game in Adams county (Southern Hills League) it is a minimum of $150 and a max. of $250 ticket according to your behavior after being thrown out. I was told this by a police chief working in one of these (SHL) schools.

It is supposed to be a fine for disorderly conduct according to an officer that used to work a lot of games at NA. They said they usually just let the offender leave though.

"T"'s are just another foul. Nothing to get real excited about. Sometimes "coach" might want a "T" to get his team's focus back, get them excited, and/or show them he is fighting for them. Fan ejections are normally a result of fans (short for the word fanatics) wanting to inject themselves into the game

I really do not understand why it is acceptable.?. fans yelling at the officials...
When did it start?
Here I am, at work...obviously not working real hard at this moment, and there is nobody screaming at me like an idiot! That is their job for that 1-2 hours, just like in your profession, some are better than others! Actually, some are much better than alot, but anyway...let them do their jobs without harassing, or they may come to your place of employment and scream at you! :122249

^^ Part of the game and the officials know this prior to pursuing the position. Most of them have good heads on their shoulders and don't over react and can block most of it out.

The idiots that take it overboard is what I can not handle. The refs know that they will be subjected to boos and disagreements from both sides, but I agree with you that they should not have to tolerate the fans that get too far carried away.

I know a fan that used to attend some Pike county games.....let's just call him Justin McBee, and he would get thrown out by one of his buddies that was a referee. They never lost friendship, but it was comical to watch Justin's face turn blood red as he was escorted from the gym.

He was never fined and was only escorted from the gym and made to leave the school grounds.

I had a fan last night at a jr hi game that with 39 seconds to play in the game was screaming 3 seconds over & over....What he fails to realize is that with each shot attemp the 3 second count is off...The ladies would attempt a shot, miss it & attempt another...He just did not seem to understand that they can legally rebound in the paint as long as shots were going up....I spotted him out in the crowd during the next dead ball....He hollors at me & says "What are you gonna do, throw me out"....With just 20 seconds or so to play, I sure did not give him the pleasure of being ejected. I just smiled at him & went on with my conversation at the scorers table.

And for the record, I have never ejected Justin Mcbee from any game...Sorry Hoggy....lol...

Its amazing actually, those in the stands who do not have a clue of the rules, yet scream continuously... the problem is, others hear him/her and think they may be right and join along...

This is a baseball story but i think its pretty funny... Me and one of my buddys where watchin a high school game down at piketon and the home plate umpire was not calling a very good game, me and my buddy's mistake was sitting right behind him, as the game went on we could tell he was getting mad. towards the end of the game another one of my friends just came and sat down beside us and i said something and he turned around and tossed my friend who just sit down out of the game!!! he still gets on me for that every time i see him...lol
