Jackson should win at least 6 or 7 of their first ten games.
No reason to think they can't. They have put in the hard work, now it is time to show it on the court.

They are much improved and should be with everyone back plus a couple new faces.
Tonight will be a tough test but no reason to believe they can't compete and win this one.
Go Ironmen.....

7 out of their first 10 with that schedule would be pretty impressive. That would be a quicker turn around than expected.

Tonight will definitely be a tough test, the Jeeps are solid. By no means is it undo-able, but they will have to play pretty daggon well against a senior laden Jeep team.

It will be interesting to see how both teams start out the season!

bbjunky,

I agree tall task tonight and also I believe the Athens game. The other games I don't see any teams that standout that much on paper.
That is why you play the games that is four sure.....
I guess like everyone else after all the teams get a few games in, it will be easier to gage where everyone is at.
Good luck to all area teams as they start the journey.

Jackson 49
South Webster 43

Outstanding win for the Ironmen. They play so hard.

Speakman 18
Spohn 13
Hall 7
Donaldson 7 and 10+ rebounds
McCoy 2
Neal 2

Held Zimmerman to 8 points and zero FG.

Jackson only shot 46% from ft line (11-24) but 39% (6-16) from 3

SW 3/17 from 3 and under 30% overall but 18/23 from ft line

Nice win for Jackson...sound much improved from last couple of years. Holding a scorer like Zimmerman to 0 field goals is unbelievable.*

Good win for Jackson! Zimmerman never could get a shot to go and the Jeeps didn't play well defensively. Down the road this type of game and environment will help both teams. Jeeps needed that before conference play for sure.

On the other hand, wow I hope officiating isn't that bad all year! And I mean that both ways. The officials tried to make the game about them and only them and kept both teams out rhythm for ever. The red headed official was one of the most arrogant officials I've seen in many years. I hope neither team has to deal with him again!

Red head? I think the two are two of the best around but the one seems to be on the wrong end of most of the iffy calls.

Wow! Good win for Jackson. I thought South Webster would be challenging for the SOC2 title this year. If the shots won't fall it's just tough to win.

I am not a basketball guy so don't really understand the game all that much, but I can recognize some chemistry when I see it.

It was a great game as an Ironmen fan to watch.

Kudos to Coach Morrow for taking some shooters, basketball kids and mixing in some tough nosed kids and figuring out a lineup that looks like it will be competitive in a lot of games this year. Add in some athletes off the bench that have some hops and can play defense, and you have the makings of a team that will start to bring Jackson basketball back into the discussion as we move forward.

Good luck to the Ironmen in the rest of your season.

Greenfield 46
Jackson 38

Greenfield played great defense and hit a lot of shots in first half. The longer Greenfield team seemed to dominate the boards.

Jackson was up 3 late in the 3rd and not sure what happened as it looked like a nothing play but ref ran down and stopped play a t'd up the Jackson bench pointing at an assistant who never even talks.

Down 2 with 17 seconds left loose ball and Greenfield comes up with it and another Greenfield player flies into a Jackson player, everyone going crazy and ref talking to Jackson player then t'd him up and 4 free throws sealed it.

Jackson lost because Greenfield hit more shots and dominated the boards. I tip my hat to the effort of the Greenfield kids. That crew of refs cannot control a varsity game, they never can. Seems like they are at Jackson 5x a year. Ref should've stepped in immediately with the whistle and took charge....then after all that the other ref is under basket laughing as he passed the Greenfield shooter the ball for the free throws. Not good.

One thing I noticed about Jackson coaches was that many times all 3 of them was standing and coaching several times during the meigs game, I was surprised the refs never warned them.

That would be fair. Assistants were all sitting when t'd up.

darn right it is cool. We went years hardly winning at any of the high school levels. Our top players transfer and piece by piece players and coaches are working hard and getting there. It's a process but it has been enjoyable to sit in the stands and watch kids play hard and win when for years it was just play hard and give a good effort.

Enjoy laughing at Jackson basketball....I imagine we'll be beating your team in the years to come.
