What is going on this early in the season?

Yesterday I was driving on Ohio 104 and noticed two bucks butting heads. I then heard this morning at work that a co-worker had seens the same thing in Chillicothe this morning. What is going on? Why are the bucks already starting to fight this early?

I have some pics of young bucks sparring while still in velvet. Also many pics of bucks sparring as soon as the velvet comes off. Mostly just pecking order as earlier indicated. Not unusual.

I saw 2 bucks locked-up in the middle of a county rd outside of Rio Grande last night. . I almost put an end to both of them. That would have pissed me off!!!!!
