"Eyes of a Stranger" - Payola$......track 3 on "music from the soundtrack of Valley Girl".....great movie, incredible soundtrack......used to be very difficult to get ahold (believe the original vinyl pressing was pulled very quickly due to a licensing snafu) of until Rhino stepped up in the mid nineties.

Me loves me some classic Plimsouls.

Amazon.com Review
Martha Coolidge's 1983 directorial debut--based loosely on the Frank (and Moon) Zappa (who weren't involved with the film) novelty hit of the previous year--carried a budget so low that it didn't even generate a soundtrack album when it was released. Loosely based on the same themes as Romeo and Juliet, (with a young Nicolas Cage as a Hollywood homeboy Montague) Valley Girl's producers were also savvy enough to tap into LA radio outlet KROQ's pioneering "Rock of the 80s" format. Rhino's unofficial soundtrack release captures much of the spunky essence of KROQ's playlist--three tracks by LA's great Plimsouls (including their biggest hit "A Million Miles Away"), some novelty hits (Josie Cotton's "Johnny Are You Queer, "Jukebox" by the flirts, Felony's "The Fanatic")--and fondly recalls an era when rock's fun quotient hadn't yet been tattooed and pierced into oblivion. --Jerry McCulley

WHEN...Kalin Twins, 1958...M&L by Jack Reardon, Paul Evans

followed by

BETTE DAVIS EYES... Kim Carnes, 1981, M&L by Donna Weiss, Jackie DeShannon. Jackie performed it in 1974, but it wasn't a hit till Carnes did it.

(From my external HD which contains some 20K songs, old and new. I play it while I do other work on the PC.)

"The Likes of You and I" - The Levellers

Pocket Aces - The Plimsouls were great! When I found "Everywhere at Once" on CD I was stoked.

I remember watching "Valley Girl" at a friends' house everytime it came on HBO (in the mid-1980's). That movie introduced to a lot of music beyond the country and hair bands that you heard most often in Ironton in the mid-80's.
