When James was serving time in a reform school for auto theft,he met Bobby Byrd,whose family sponsored Brown for parole.James took over Byrds group ,the Gospel Starlights and changed their name to the Famous Flames.

Ooby Dooby-Roy Orbison and the Teen Kings-1956-#59

Music and lyrics by Wade Moore and Dick Penner

This was Roy's national debut on Sun Records out of Memphis.
Roy felt uncomfortable with Sun and left them in 1958, re-emerging in 1960 as one of the great balladeers.
