Super rich see federal taxes drop dramatically

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Still scrambling to file your taxes? You'll probably take little consolation in hearing that the super rich pay a lot less taxes than they did a couple of decades ago. And nearly half of U.S. households pay no income taxes at all.

As an independent, I feel neither major party has the best interests of U.S. citizens at heart. But this specific issue is Republican policies at their best. The myth that raising taxes always hurts an economy is what is hurting this country economically. Even the idolized Ronald Reagan raised taxes eleven times during his Presidency.

Flat tax! I think that would be the way to go in my opinion. Everyone pays the same percentage; rich, poor and in between.

Let's not forget though that Afghanistan quickly became 'Obama's War' as he greatly escalated it when he took office because, as he said that was where we should have attacked to start with. Then, we now are engaged in this Libyan thing. I saw yesterday where NATO is talking limited ground troops. Either way, I bet the amount beings spent by America is going to be a staggering amount of money.

While I happen to agree that Bush was a horrible pres....and I know this is way off topic, am I the only one that finds it ironic that we ....somehow owe the Chinese debt payments, and yet we are providing security for their people to pull oil out of Iraq???? :122246
