Issue 3: Casinos or No Casinos

As fate would have it I am going to Belleterra Tuesday to win a little but I would luv to have the opportunity to win some at a casino in Columbus or Cincy........so my vote will be for the casinos...............

and for the smokers and non-smokers the 3 casinos in Indiana........Belleterra, Grand Victoria and Hollywood all permit smoking.

very good question I cant answer..........I do know the dog track in Charleston is losing revenue because of the non-smoking policy........

Wheeling Park has a section for smokers as well as a non-smoking section which I found interesting........the smoking section was in the sports bar surrounded by slot machines and the amazing thing was there were many non-smokers setting around watching the Sunday afternoon football games..........

I vote NO. Those who can afford to gamble and wish to go to other states to do so, more power to them. It is a good form of entertainment, if you can afford it.

And as for smoking, those who can afford it and do so without it coming into my space, feel free. But...........I do not like it when smokers use my world as their ashtray.

Tobias and FIDO, Excellent dialogue! I personally say no to the casinos, but I do see the economic values. My objection is based purely on moral feelings. I would rather fall on the dull sword of economic collapse than fall on the sharp sword of GODs wrath. But this is my personal feelings on the matter. It will ultimatly be left up to the majority. My fear, if it passes, is the majority wont be ready to deal with the repercussions.

So Tobias what is the answer?....not do anything?...the casinos will bring jobs and economic relief as fido said.........Moral reasons will not now nor ever get it.......If you believe that, get your people to shut down sales of tobacco everywhere...shut all bars everywhere........shut all carryouts everywhere............You can not legislate morality........Repercussions?.....what? will some crime creep in, sure........But if there were truly "repercussions", the other casino towns would not have anyone visiting.People would not be moving there.schools would not be open in those cities........corporate america has decided to move our manufacturing jobs somewhere else to make more profit.So, you wanted a service oriented society, well ya got one.................

WOW - I have wanted to ask this very question But I figured asking it would be termed "political" and therefore forbidden.
Ohio has voted down casino after casino time after time, and that's a mystery to me. Aren't there horse racetracks all over Ohio? - isn't that "gambling"? - so why is allowing casinos any different?
I don't like playing cards and would never choose to go to a casino anywhere for "fun".
I also hate baseball and would never choose to participate in or go to a game, but I certainly wouldn't vote to forbid baseball for everyone!!!
I really don't get the strenuosly, loudly organized, concerted opposition to casinos [something that would attract tourism dollars as well as provide jobs and a different recreational option closer to home for us residents] that is always mounted. I'll be voting YES!!!!!

& how do you figure this? Stealing is illegal, gambling isn't.

Stealing doesn't create thousands upon thousands of jobs, casino's do.
