Over priced coffee and now the consumer seems to be letting this compnay know about it.

Starbucks Corp (NasdaqGS:SBUX - News) said on Tuesday it plans to close another 500 underperforming stores and eliminate as many as 12,000 fill- and part-time positions.

I was going to say for the price of their coffee I am surprised it wasn't closed along time ago...

AMEN to that - there is absolutely no way and no circumstances that would make a cup of coffee worth that much to me - even if that coffee had expensive liquor in it, it shouldn't cost that much!

At 53 bucks a gallon I have to wonder what took so long. Never been to one.

Starbucks said the closures are spread across all major U.S. markets and that 70 percent of the targeted stores have been open since the beginning of fiscal 2006.

Does this mean the one in Ashland will close??
I always wondered why it was built in the first place. It never looks busy and Mickey Dees has just as good coffee.

On the CBS local news today they reported 2 stores is on the list of the first 50 to close.

I have never wasted my money there so this is not a big issue with me but it is a sign of the times. 8)

no really hard decision for me..simple economics............for the price of 3 cups of Starbuck's=1-case of Bud Light

I would spend $20.00 dollars for coffee, because the memories I have of those Saturday's are lasting and priceless.

we all have those moments and memories FIDO no reason to be guilty on that one!
I sometimes spend a little more on one the kids because the simple joy on their face when you do something they love :122245

I went to the one in Ashland once for work. They confused the crap out of me when I ordered. I just wanted coffee and a cappacino and youd thought I was ordering a new car with all the extras they were offering me. On a side note I did hear the one in ashland was closing.

I would venture that competition undercutting them on the same types of products really has hurt them as well. I know McDonald's are installing equipment in this area right now to do so. A lot of other places have for a while now including convenient stores
