How bad must it get(WEATHER) before you call off of work?

Post by LICKING COUNTY FAN »

At what point do you say my life is more important and call off?
What does your boss say when you do this?

Sounds like the company I work for.
Last year after watching ten wrecks happen I called my boss who, was home not working and told him how bad it was out on the road and he said it wasn’t that bad to stay out. I said cool but if I wreck you will get the bills. He did not say anything at all after that.

Newlex, is there a site that posts if there is a level whatever emergency in any certain area?

Most of the times the local news stations will post the counties that under certain levels.

If you need to find out to be sure, your County Sheriffs Department and the County Engineers (Highway) Department can be contacted to find out since they are the ones that determine what levels are posted.

I've never missed work because of bad weather. 4-wheel drive helps. Even drove to work during Level 3 and was the only vehicle on the highway for the 20-min. drive. Stuck at work 4 straight days however LOL.

I am required to report to work regardless of the level of snow emergency.

I've never called off due to the weather in 31 years at the same job.

I walk about a half a block to work, so I don't get any snow days.

Did the bad weather keep anyone from working today?

I'm at work today ---drove about 26-28 miles to get here ----2 of my 4 employees called off. Who live locally. No one wants to work ---I drive a VW . not near bad enough to break out my 4x4 today. Never missed work for weather over 20 years including the infamous ice storm of 02 or whenever ---I went in and got killed with people b/c no one else was open. MD

After 31 years at the same job I have only been late one day because of the weather and I had to shovel my driveway out because the ODOT plow blocked me in. One day back in the early 80's they shut the plant down because of an ice storm and I didn't go that day.

Being the boss, I had to come in and cover because an employee(s) could not
make it here this morning.
