It is! Monday, May 26, this year.

Fido, the OBDTF will be sponsoring a float again this year and if you can make it home you are more than welcome to ride on it.......as you can see there will be plenty of refreshments..................

It starts at ten a.m. and is the longest continuous running parade in the country. It goes on rain or shine and has done so for over 100 years (I don't know exactly).

I didn't know we had our own city link. That's great. Thanks TTT.

Besides that, at the speed most of us walk, we'd really hold up progress and cause significant delays!

I believe Memorial/Decoration Day was designated a National Holiday in 1868.

Ironton has managed to hold some sort of Parade every year since. Other cities/towns were forced to forego holding a "parade" in some year or other [particularly during the WW I and WW II years], but Ironton has managed to put together something no matter what every single year.

Some of the beverages served from the float has a tendency to make you cover the same territory twice.
I'm sure a person of your stature alone would cause serious delays. ;-)
You mean not even counting the "age" and "disability" factors??? How "kind" of you!
BTW - I'd go for the "beverages" - forget the "float", or the "parade" either, for that matter - but TTT would beat me to them! He's fast for an old guy!
P.S. In retrospect, I have the feeling I missed something in the preceeding exchange!!!

I think Turk is up for the sword dancer part with the El Hasa band this year.
Re: ironton memorial day parade?
He'd be PERFECT in that role!!!!! I'd be careful to stand "out of reach" of that sword he's wielding, though!!!
