Here are the directions to the school and yea now its the firehouse.
If going through Lucasville tun left at 2nd red light. When you come to next red light turn right go past Briar Patch and continue about 4 miles you'll cross a small bridge and then turn left up the hill to big bear creek. Go past the nursing home and keep going on that road and it will be on your left and there will be signs outside the building.
Oh yes there will also be a concession stand with pop, water, coffee and hot dogs.

Rarden is on St Rt 73 about 6 miles south of it's junction with the Appalach - Rt 32 - it's said RARE-den. My daughter and I travel Rt 73 frequently betweeh her home in Clermont Co and mine here in Ironton. Between West Portsmouth and Rt 32 there are 2 small towns - Ottway and Rarden. When he was little, my grandson called them "Attaway" and "Wierden". I took care of a patient who was from Ottway once, and I told her my grandson's names for those towns. She said her brother called it "Out-of-the-way". Appropriate for both places, actually!biggdowgg wrote:I was messin with YOU,I had never heard of it...now I know why..where the heck is this place called Rarden
Outside of Cincy somewhere....I think it's close to Bolivia....
WAY "outside of Cincy" - "Batavia", county seat of Clermont Co, is "outside Cincy". ["Bolivia" is a country in South America.] Rarden is close to an hour farther southeast in Scioto Co, I think - maybe Adams Co. I can make Rarden in an hour from Ironton - it's barely my halfway point to Clermont County let alone Cincy!! But I think you're both messing with everyone. The directions sound to me like not far "outside Lucasville" - nowhere close to Cincinnati or even Batavia [let alone Bolivia]!

OK - didn't you love the confusion of sounds, as heard by a child, between "oblivion" and "Bolivia", though? You must have or you wouldn't have quoted it! But we're way off the Cornhole Tournament topic. Sorry about that - some MOD will probably strike us [me esp] down.
Seriously, how did you Portsmouthians travel to Concinnati over the years? Rt 52?
The Appalach didn't exist when I first moved to Ironton, but it was started not too long after and completed in increments. Have you and dowgg really never gone up Rt. 73 through Rarden?

Yes there are pro cornholers. I asked the saem question when I was writing out the flyer of the tournament. Im not sure exactly how you become one, but one of the requirements is you have to be able to put 40 out of 50 bags in the hole or something close to that.
Re: Cornhole Tournament Saturday sept 18th.
I thought the definition of "professional athlete" was getting paid money for competing. So technically anyone who has won/accepted a monetary prize in a previous competition is a "professional". As will all the winners in your tournament be in regards to future tournaments.
Sorry to have "hijacked" your thread with geographic distractions.
I hope you have great weather and a good turnout for your tournament.

Its ok and yea I hope we have good weather. That does remind me it will go on rain or shine. It it supposed to be played outside, but if it rains the tournament will be played inside in the gym.

The old school has a Lucasville mailing address,so that's why it's Lucasville. That goes for anywhere.Another example,You might live outside the Portsmouth city limits and still have a Portsmouth mailing address.Like Rosemount for instance...biggdowgg wrote:I had no idea where it was,I was going by what was posted above ....WhiteWhiskers wrote:No, It's not in Lucasville It's at 7106 Bear Creek-Rarden Rdbiggdowgg wrote:in Lucasville Ohio.
