AEP would like you to help the disadvantaged pay their bill

If the donations are more than what is owed, then what? Will your bill come down some? No, the power company will benefit from it. All i'm saying is that i'm paying enough already in taxes, if you can't get it from the government, don't ask me for any more. I give to church and help schools and anything for the kids. But i'm sick of dead beats with their hand out.

I don't owe anyone anything, except God. Charity should be a matter of choice, not a mandatory, federally enforced policy. If I choose not to give my money to the poor, that's between myself and God, not the government or a utility company.

Oh. . . and here's another thought: if AEP wants to help out the "disadvantaged" so much, why don't they just take money off their bill instead of asking me to help pay it?

They cannot cut the electric off of someone who is disadvantaged. If it doesn't get paid, it just gets passed to those who can pay anyway. I'm not against helping those in need. I want to make sure that my hard earned dollars are going to the right place and you have no way of knowing.

thanks for the info saw and will put my 2 cents of opinion on it when I send it in... when I open the bill I always flip down to see the kilo and amount don't look at the top until I have to pay it
the only time they really cannot turn off the electric is during heating season..or if you have in your hand a statement from the doctor stating it must stay on...
once I didn;t get the bill totally forgot about not getting one came home lights off hmm must be an outage called oops shut off.. hubby had just had heart surgery see why it slipped my mind.. the disconnect came in the mail the next day... oh called stated hubby just had open heart surgery too bad pay up we'll come out in the next 24 hours well after a few phone calls it was back on in 2 hours

i just cant imagine people being allowed to use illegal drugs and be able to get free benefits. most people including myself had to be drug tested to EARN a living, why cant the gov just drug test people to be GIVEN a living. i am thinking we dont have enough prison space to be able to drug test everyone who recieves benefits. i feel strongly that in scioto county alone over 50% of people getting benefits are on something they shouldent be

We just have different opinions on this and that's ok. I feel my company has every right to know that i'm operating heavy equipment drug and alcohol free, for the safety of those around me. You and I both know that there are people that are living off the government, and selling and doing drugs. You feel like we should keep supporting this without testing, because it's an invasion of our rights........kinda like the new health care plan

Thats only partially true. It was built on helping those that were willing to help themselves. And Im not forgetting about those that are not in a position to help themselves. But you cant convince me any different that at least 25% of those on welfare couldnt hold a job.

Absolutely, we need to make everyone who draws a dime from the taxpayers to be subjected to random urinalysis. If it is good for the military it should be good for the teachers, professors, doctors, firefighters, policeman, welfare recipients, SSI recipients, etc....

As usual, you are only partially right. You are correct that government has no right nosing into our private life....UNLESS...you happen to be collecting government money by doing nothing more than gettin on welfare.
