Ironton Youth Basketball Tournament (January 19/20)

This Tournament will be a school boy/school girl tournament set for January 19th and 20th 2013. There will be a boys 5th grade, boys 6th grade and a girls 5/6 grade combined. All games will be played at Ironton High School Courts, with most, if not all played in the Conley Center. Referees will be state licensed high school officials. All teams will be gauranteed three games, as the first two will be pull play to decide placement, followed by single elimination. Cost for entry of the tournament will be $80 if team roster and check is sent in by January 12th to: Ironton Youth Basketball Tournament, C/O Toben Schreck 302 Delaware Street, Ironton, Ohio 45638, Otherwise $100 there after. Tournament is filling up quick...we have decided to do two divisions in the sixth grade...Divisions 1 and Division 2. Division 2 will be for teams who have a lot of 5th graders or players who are newer to the game...Division 1 will be for the experienced teams, very high level of competition.

Tournament is nearly full in the boys 6th and 5th. Girls still have openings, might be able to fit a couple more boys teams in.

This will be waverly's 6th grade team first time playing together. Some of the boys played a little bit together last year as 5th graders, but they have added some new kids. I hope they are playing in the lower division. Nothing worse than getting completly blasted in your first tournament.

Coal Grove, Ironton, Wheelersburg and Green are extremely good 6th grade boys teams. They have soundly beat alot of teams this year.

Based on what I have observed, probably. Coal Grove has beaten both Ironton and Wheelersburg. I'm not sure if Green has played any of the teams listed but they have a good team. I sure there are other good teams out there I'm not familar with.

How many teams are in division 2

We have ten teams in the 6th grade bracket, so we have decided to stay with one division this year. There will be two pull play games and then the single elimination will begin, so this will give teams time to enjoy some good competition. Plus if we have time on Sunday we will be having 6 minute shootouts where we match up teams who have played good against each other or that would want to play each other in an overtime format prior to the championship...to give extra playing time and excitement. We now will be playing some games on Friday.

We are working with teams that can play on Friday..if your team can't then you will play on Saturday and Sunday. We had two varsity games scheduled at the last minute at our facilities and we have to make changes to accomodate. In most cases Friday night works out better for our teams in this tournament. We have been bombarded by coaches wanting those slots.
