Valenth's Thoughts from Week 5

Post by Valenth »

Wow what a great week of Football! TIme to Dig in into details!

1. Mike Norvell is sitting on a Nuclear Reactor that's about to completely melt down.

After the Seminoles got embarrassed by SMU.. How much more can the Florida State faithful handle?

2. Kentucky and Arizona fans are flying high right now!

The biggest upset of the Day came when Kentucky knocked off 6th Ranked Ole Miss.

Then another Upset came late night on the West Coast when Arizona knocked off 10th ranked Utah.

3. Georgia/Alabama game did not Disappoint!

However after the first half..it looked like Georgia was done with.. But man they came back and took the lead in the 4th but Milroe was just too much for the Bulldogs. Truly an entertaining game!

4. Usual Suspects wins easily...

Texas, Ohio State, Oregon and Penn State...

5. Michigan keeps eeking by on these close games...

They defeated USC last week... then Squeak by a very Medicore Minnesota team with the exact same score... Michigan is an average team... they will likely lose at least 2 games with their remaining Schedule.

6. Miami FL wins their game... Or did they?

That game ending was 100% suspect and IMO with all that went on in the area of that "Reception" with the naked eye would have been difficult to see. With the Turnover on the review I truly felt bad for the Hokie Faithful.

7. My "Teams to Watch"

Indiana, UNLV and Rutgers! These teams are getting things done and I 100% see 1 or 2 of these teams Crack into the top AP Top 25 soon!

8. My Top 10

1. Texas
2. Alabama +2
3. Ohio State
4. Tennessee +1
5. Georgia - 2
6. Oregon +2
7. Penn State +2
8. Mizzou +2
9. Miami -2
10. Michigan +2

Utah and Ole Miss Fall out of the top 10

Great weekend of football like you mentioned!!
From point 5, Michigan also seemed to catch a break with the "offsides" call on the recovered onside kick from Minnesota late in the game. Right call? I don't seem to think so but others may differ. Regardless, no telling if Minnesota would've scored but at least gave them the chance to.

Indiana has now cracked the top 25! Sitting at #23, I believe they get another favorable matchup this week vs NW to potentially move to 6-0 before they face Nebraska.

Don't see this often too, there are two teams ranked #25 this week with Texas A&M and newly ranked UNLV! Pretty interesting.

Lets be honest. Minnesota got hosed on that onside kick. And they dominated scUM the 2nd half. Tttun north is in the top 5 in the conference at best.

Yea Goldie got homered big time! Why didn't the replay booth stop the game and take a look at that? They love to look at everything else! Goldie might not have won but was well within field goal range to tie it up and go to ot.

Glad the Buckeye game wasn't televised so I could watch a better game. Man that Bama/Georgia game was entertaining as heII!

That Georgia/Alabama game was by far one of the best games this year. I thought Georgia was done for but man did they charge back. It makes me think... What could Kentucky do against Alabama... because Kentucky basically smothered Georgia and Ole Miss with that defense... and both of those teams were cranking out Yards.

I was just about ready to turn the channel in the first half but there wasn't any other good games on so I stuck with it. Sure glad I did. I agree Val, Kentuckeek might be better than people think. I don't see them beating Big Al the elephant but they might make it interesting. Too bad they are not on the schedule this year. Big AL has Smokey coming up in a few weeks. Hopefully that will be half as entertaining as the Georgia game was and it will still be good.

I missed the weekends action helping kin clean up in Southern WV from the storm. Just watched a replay of Roll Tide and Georgia. Most excellent entertaining game. Milroe gave me Vince Young vibes. He just seemed able to carry Bama on his shoulders.

Also watched OSU vs. Sparty highlights. I continue to see great talent and moments of championship caliber football. Then again, shades of the last three years. Maybe better competition next week against Iowa will show if State can really challenge Texas, Bama, and Georgia.

Looking at the scores of other games it is good to see some forgotten programs have success. Indiana? Has the transfer portal and NIL made such a difference?
