For the season OSU is 11-11. The Bucks are 3-8 in Big Ten play good for only 12th place.

State has lost 8 out of their last 9 games and rank only 124th in the RPI rankings. Making the NCAA tournament this season is a near impossibility.

The high water mark for the team was a 10-3 record on January 1st and a #24 ranking in the AP poll. There were really no wins of note, just quality losses to Duke and North Carolina, two teams who are not having good years.

As is typical with Chris Holtmann coached teams in the past, they struggle with rebounding and lack a true take charge floor general. Some good talent that has little identity as a team.

Which brings us around to head coach Chris Holtmann and his future at Ohio State. Now in his sixth season in Columbus, he is 118-67, no conference titles but five NCAA appearances.
He is thought to have recruited well, runs a rule compliant program, and by most accounts is more than a decent human being.

Yet since his team's performances seem to have regressed since his first season, there are calls to fire him. Holtmann has what many consider to be the kiss of death having just received a strong endorsement from Athletic Director, Gene Smith.

So what are your thoughts about a basketball coaching change at OSU? Is it needed or does basketball even matter in Columbus as football is king?
