Valenth's Thoughts from Week 10...

Post by Valenth »

Boy oh Boy! Do I have a LOT to Discuss! Let's get down to it!

1. Cya ACC!

With Clemson getting completely destroyed in South Bend. This pretty much puts the nail in the coffin for the ACC... They just are NOT GOOD. As for a One Loss North Carolina team who barely got by a sub-par Virginia squad... I Rest My Case.

2. We can Finally Put Alabama Playoff Discussions to bed!

After an Overtime Thriller in Death Valley.. the SEC West is a Complete Mess. Alabama got exposed AGAIN and now they're pretty much a distant memory for Playoff Discussion.

3. Ohio State won ugly... But they won.. thats the Key!

Despite winds near 50mph and utterly horrible weather conditions. There was no way Stroud could effectively put up big numbers today. The Buckeyes made Adjustments to win the Game. And they Remain Undefeated.

4. Tennessee got EXPOSED.

Georgia just outright dominated the Volunteers on every side of the Ball. I guess the Bulldogs took offense that the college Football Playoff Committee put them in 3rd. I still find it Hilarious that Georgia gave up more points to Kent State than to Tennessee...

5. The B1G West... I throw my Hands up....

Apparantly no team Wants to decidedly win the B1G West
Illinois had one Job... And Sparty had other ideas... Its once again up for grabs.

6. The B1G East teams continue to Roll...

Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State win against their respected opponents.

7. BIG XII... TCU is the only hope.

The Horned Frogs have a Meeting with Texas down the road. If TCU continues to win... They're on their Way to the Playoffs... If TCU loses... The BIG XII might be sealed with a similar fate as the ACC.

8. PAC12 (this thought is During the USC and UCLA games)

Right now OREGON is the Team to beat in the PAC12... I'm watching USC and UCLA struggle against teams that they shouldnt be struggling against.

9. Congrats to the Kansas Jayhawks on Becoming Bowl Eligible!

They took it to an Oklahoma State Team who I thought earlier this season was a potential Playoff contender... I have no clue what happened to Oklahoma State... But its Ugly right now for them.

My Prediction on College Football Playoff Rankings.

1. Georgia <- No Question
2. Ohio State
3. Michigan
4. TCU

5. Tennessee
6. Oregon

7. USC
8. UCLA
9. LSU
10. Alabama

THOUGHTS?

As always, a good analysis Valenth.

Georgia is the clear choice for number one. Tennessee's previously number one offense could only manage 289 total yards and were simply mauled by Georgia. Defense still wins championships.

Who will be ranked 2 through 4? Anybody's guess?

Why not Michigan for second? They held serve with style points.

Why not TCU for third? At least they did not struggle with a 1-7 team as did Ohio State .

Ohio State did what is necessary to beat both adverse weather and Northwestern. Yet since their bye week, our Buckeyes level of play on offense has declined for any number of reasons. They have the talent to play for a national championship but who knows if Ryan Day can right the ship in the next two weeks heading into The Game?

Waiting in the wings to pick up the pieces are Tennessee, Oregon, and even Clemson or 2 loss LSU. At least Bama is out of the CFP picture.

A plethora of things to say after yesterday...

Let's cut to the point. My top 6 are..

1 Georgia
2 Bichigan
3 Ohio St...I agree with Omega
4 TCU...they just keep winning...vs Texas next Sat
5 Tennessee
6 Oregon...USC and UCLA are playing as if they are in the BIG-12

and the others....who cares

Georgia v LSU for SEC Championship is my guess..
Buckeyes better fix things or the Anteaters of Ann Arbor will clean their clock!!!
PAC-12 is Oregon's to lose
BIG-12...TCU...the Horned Frogs just win baby

BTW...hats off to Liberty. They jumped to 1-A just five years ago. Last week they throttled BYU 41-14. Yesterday they held on to beat Arkansas 21-19.

Their coach....Hugh Freese from Ol Miss

1. Georgia
2. THE Ohio State University
3. ttun
4. TCU

OSU uses the pass to open up the run. 50+ mph wind will put a damper on a passing game. Lots to fix after the win yesterday but they are still in good shape.

Please tell me of one really good offense the ttun has played? Case and point on ttun.

TCU will still take a loss and remove the B12 from playoff contention.

The ND thrashing of Clemson only strengthens OSUs resume.

LSU proved me wrong but I think the story is still how bad Bama is for a Bama team more so than how good LSU is......LSU still looked downright awful in a number of games.

ACC is toast. Clemson was a fraud this year and was protected by an ultra weak schedule. If they played in the B1G east they would be a .500 team. Everyone knew it but E$PN propped them up like a dead guy at the jukebox because they own the ACC network. Clemson Qb play has been awful.

All in all, it was great to see Saban and Dabo look like they were going to puke on the sideline last night.

This could be the year that 2 B1G teams get in the playoff.

Not that it matters with the CFP Committee poll in play, but here is the AP top 25 for week 10:

RANK TEAM PTS
1 GEORGIA 1,574 (62)
2 OHIO STATE 1,500 (1)
3 MICHIGAN 1,455
4 TCU 1,361
5 TENNESSEE 1,339
6 OREGON 1,258
7 LSU 1,132
8 USC 1,061
9 UCLA 1,040
10 ALABAMA 1,009
11 OLE MISS 962
12 CLEMSON 938
13 UTAH 881
14 PENN STATE 735
15 NORTH CAROLINA 676
16 TULANE 607
17 NORTH CAROLINA STATE 547

20 NOTRE DAME 316
21 ILLINOIS 262
22 UCF 257

The Buckeyes are still #2 but lost 14 first place votes. Will this be similar to what comes out of the committee on November 8th?
