ND 10 OSU 7 Half

ND dominating both lines of scrimmage keeping OSU receivers bottled up.

The unstoppable offense with only 14 points going into the 4th, hopefully, that last TD woke them up!

Buck's defense is stingy against the run. Eichenberg having a great game pursuing the ball.

Is Prince back on the line? 79 with another false start, smh. Irish defense starting to wear down and they keep giving up them scrambling tight sideline passes.

OSU 21 ND 10 Final

A win is a win.

Credit Notre Dame's defense. They stopped OSU's running game and kept Buckeye receivers at bay until late third quarter.

The good for Ohio State was that the defense was solid if not exactly lock down. Gone was the deer in the head light look.

The undecided was the Buckeye running game. It finally got going in the 4th quarter, but struggled early.

The not so good was Ohio State's passing game.
Stroud was not sharp and receivers Smith-Njigba and Egbuka were injured. Of course Notre Dame had the speed and coverage to keep State's pass catchers covered most of the evening.

All in all a solid win for State against an opponent many underestimated. The 2022 Buckeyes are not ready to take on Georgia or Bama at the moment, but the potential is there to mount a challenge by seasons end.

Game Stats:

OSU 395 total yards, 223 passing and 172 rushing.
TreVeyon Henderson was the leading rusher with 91 yards. Stroud was 24 of 34 passing for 223 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The Irish mustered 177 passing and only 76 on the ground for a total of 253 total yards.

Odd to say, the defense carried the day for Ohio State.

It was a great environment in the Shoe last night. Let's not forget that this was ND that we played. Not Colorado State or some other buttercup most of the other top teams were playing today.

Defense gave up some dumb plays, 79 needs to eliminate the false starts and punts should never consistently go over the returners head.

Outside of that, the offense got going, Miyan Williams might be the better RB and the LBs finally showed up for a game. Defense looked good. Offense will get going.

It was game 1 vs a legit top 10 opponent. And a win.

Yes it was wild in there. Defense only gave up 72 yards in the second half. Notre Dame isn’t a bad team at all. Def some things to clean up, but huge win game 1.

Overall the defense looked as good as we heard they would.
Notre Dame played very well on defense which stunned me.
The Buckeyes offense adjusted and showed just enough to win.

Notre Dame playedna good first Half. Buckeyes found their stride in the Second Half and got the W. Notre Dame will definitely be tearing up some ACC teams for sure.
