Braxton Beverly and Derek Funderburk are both gone from the team now too. Beverly an incoming 3* freshman PG was granted his release, Funderburk a redshirt 4* freshman PF was dismissed from the team. Now down to 8 scholarship players on the team!

Hope the new Coach recruits all of Ohio instead of getting player info 2nd handed. Lots of talent within the borders that want to play 4 years and not one and done guys .

11Warriors reporting that former OSU commit Dane Goodwin intends to sign with Notre Dame.
This puts more pressure on Holtmann and staff on the recruiting front for both 2017 and 2018. It is going to take at least three years to turn the program.

I agree Omega. This thing wont get straight for a while.
Holtmann has set the bar high for making and staying on this team, which I feel he had to do. The right attitude was lacking on the floor as we saw the last few years in their defensive effort.

Matta failed to recruit star players over the past 3-4 years and it will take some time to turn that around. Matta left him with a mess to clean up.

I still agree it was time for Matta to go, but we have to be realistic in what the new coaching staff has to work with and keep the potential in mind.

The 2014 class was 6th nationally and the 2015 class was 5th. Recruiting wasn't the issue. The players never developed at all.

You are correct LC, Dakich will not help the Buckeye cagers statistically. I believe Holtmann sees him as an asset in restoring a work ethic and positive culture to the Ohio State program. That and Holtmann simply needs bodies to fill out the roster for practice.

I do think he can help rebuild good work ethics and culture. He is a solid player. On some side notes. His dad played for the General at Indy from 1982-85 and is an ESPN college basketball analyst.

Going some where else or changing their commitment tells me that they feel they are not a good fit for the style that's coming . High profile players have proved nothing on the college level . They are harder to coach up because they think they are super stars . Too many one and done has created over rating young talent . Give me players that buy into a coaching style that promotes team concept and dismisses the AAU auditions that rules college Basketball . Lots of talent in the State of Ohio and ones that will be with the program for 3-4 years . Good luck to the new coach . Build OSU back into a contender with kids that appreciates the game and the education they get to make a contribution to society. Go Bucks!!!!
