The Buckeyes opened up their season on a solid note, with a 10 point win at Navy on Veteran's Day.

Their next game is against North Carolina Central on Monday.

OSU barely escaped North Carolina Central tonight, winning 69-63. Every 5-8 minutes it appeared that they would pull away and win big, and every time that happened, NC Central would go on a run.

Jae'Sean Tate lead the Buckeyes with 21 points and 10 rebounds.

For NC Central, Patrick Cole had a great night with 26 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists.

Their next game will be a good one, when the host Providence on Thursday.

3 juniors, 1 senior and the rest are sophomores and freshman. The B1G is going to be brutal again this year.

Ohio State (3-0) got a solid win this evening over Providence (1-1), 72-67. JaQuan Lyle led the way for the Buckeyes, recording 21 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Rodney Bullock led Providence with 27 points and 8 rebounds. This is probably the best game the Buckeyes have played up to this point (only 3 games in).

The Buckeyes will next host Western Carolina on Monday.

With this young team every win helps. TOSU just needs a couple years of players not leaving.

Ohio State (4-0) seemed to play with a little confidence tonight in a 66-38 victory over Western Carolina (1-4).

JaQuan Lyle (17pts, 4rebs, 5assists) and Jae'Sean Tate (14pts, 11rebs) lead the Buckeyes again. The Catamounts were led by Mutumbo Haboubacar (11pts, 4 rebs) and Marc Gosselin (9pts, 14 rebs).

Side note, Western Carolina coach is the former head coach at Ohio University and Wittenberg University.

The Buckeyes next game is against Jackson State on Wednesday.

As LCF mentioned in another thread, the Buckeyes dominated a woeful Jackson State team tonight, 78-47. Of course that score makes the Buckeyes look good, I'm not certainly sold on them yet. As most big programs do, OSU is playing less than impressive teams at the very beginning of the season. I will be very curious to see their game next Wednesday when they play at Virginia, that will tell a lot.

The Buckeyes next game is Friday when they host Marshall.

OSU had by far their most dominating performance and best all around game of the season tonight. Ohio State (6-0) defeated Marshall (4-1), 111-70. This was the Championship game of the Global Sports Invite, in which OSU dominated.

A ton of Buckeyes contributed in the win, with 6 players scoring in double-figures. Leading the way for the Buckeyes were Marc Loving (20pts, 14 rebs), Jae'Sean Tate (20pts, 9 rebs) and Micah Potter (12pts, 12rebs). Leading the way for the Thudering Herd was Jon Elmore with 25 points.

Freshman Ky're Allison (Portsmouth) for the Thundering Herd scored 6 points and dished out 2 assists. Senior Austin Loop (South Webster) poured in 15 points.

The Buckeyes next game will be at #7 Virginia next Wednesday. This will be a true test to see how good the Buckeyes are.

Just a question on scheduling. Why does Ohio State not play in the Thanksgiving and early December Tournaments? Seems Michigan State, Iowa and Illinois play yearly in those early season tourneys and Ohio State is happy to schedule the Jackson State's of the world for 4000 or 5000 to show up at the Shot. I think teams get great experience playing in those early tourneys and gives them experience of when the league tourneys come along with the NCAA games.

For a long time OSU has played in the Preseason NIT. I'm not sure why they didn't this year. They didn't actually schedule half the teams they've played so far. That was all part of the Global Sports Invitational, which they won with their victory of Marshall.

The Buckeyes suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of #6 Virginia tonight on the road. The final score of 63-61. This game looked to be all Ohio State in the first half, but right at the start of the second half is when the Cavs defense took over the game. Which ultimately led to Ohio State's first loss of the season. I think this game tells a lot about the Buckeyes, nobody really thought a lot about them coming into the game, because they hadn't played anybody yet but they really proved themselves. I think it was good they lost this game in the long run.

The Buckeyes next play on Saturday when they host Fairleigh Dickinson.

Even though the Cavs defense got them back in the game early in second half and even took the lead, OSU responded and was back up 8. The Buckeyes failed to execute down the stretch with too many turnovers and empty possessions to ultimately give it away.

Agreed. I can't remember how many he had, but Lyle turned the ball over way too much. The last possession was atrocious after they called a timeout with 6 seconds left. But, I think this is a good indicator of how good the Buckeyes are, they are much improved from last year and they will win a lot of games.

Ya, the last possession was bad, you have to at least try to get to the paint. I agree though, these Buckeyes have the potential to be pretty good.

I thought they would be pretty good last year after beating Kentucky but it didn't turn out that way.Hopefully this year will be different.
