The Buckeyes lost at the hands of Iowa last night in the 2nd Rd of the Winner's Bracket in the Big Ten Tournament, 5-4 in 10 innings. They play Michigan again, this time in the 2nd Rd of the Loser's Bracket, today at 2pm. If they win they keep their chances of a Big Ten Title alive, and also have a very good chance of the NCAA Tournament.

OSU kept their hopes alive for both a Big Ten Tourny Title and an NCAA Tournament bid as the #4 seed in the B1G with a huge day on Saturday. They made quick work of Michigan for the second time this tournament in an 11-4 win in the afternoon. They then played #7 seed Michigan State, where they won 3-2 in 10 innings in dramatic fashion with a late home run. They will play Michigan State again tomorrow morning in the semifinal, if they win, they play #8 seed Iowa in the afternoon to punch an auto bid for the NCAA Tournament.

OSU wins BIG championship versus Iowa 8-7. The Bucks had to win 4 games in 24 hours to accomplish the deed. OSU now qualifies for the NCAA tournament. Zach Farmer is smiling in heaven.

Impressive run over the last two days for the Buckeyes! They might have gotten in even if they lost the championship game, but you don't want to leave anything to doubt, plus having a Big Ten Tourny Belt will be nice to take home!

Ohio State was the last Big Ten team to win the College World Series 50 years ago 1966. Logan's Kelly Stilwell was on that team.

Don't for sure but Kelly might have been the #1 reliever. He could have been a soph.

Louisville 14 Ohio State 2. The Cardinals took batting practice against the Bucks, who must now when three straight games to advance. Obvious quality difference between baseball conferences in the south (ACC,SEC) and the Midwest. Even if OSU bows out in their next game, it still has been a good season for the Buckeyes.

Crazy game against Louisville, it was like a first round high school baseball game! I agree the quality of baseball is completely different in the South and the West compared to our neck of the woods. Still think they can give Louisville a run for their money if they match up again, although they would have to win two straight games against them. College baseball is a funny thing.

The Buckeye's NCAA Tourny run came to an end this afternoon, as they lost to #3 seed Wright State, 7-3. A great season for the young Buckeyes, as they go 44-20-1.

The following players were seniors:

Jake Probst (Only played in 17 games with 22 plate appearances)
L. Grant Davis (Played in 49 games with 37 starts, only batted .194 but a solid fielder)
John Havird (#2 in the Buckeyes pitching rotation, started 16 games, pitched 94 innings, 6-4 with a 3.73 ERA)
Michael Horejsei (Relief Pitcher, pitched 31 innings with a 1-0 record and 2.61 ERA)
Troy Kuhm (56 starts, .258 BA, Infielder, nearly perfect fielder)
Ryan Leffel (Only started 19 games in the infield, .205 BA)
Daulton Mosbarger (Only 9 starts in the outfield with a .200 BA, pitched 32.2 innings, mostly out of bullpen but had 5 starts, 2-0 with a 2.76 ERA)
Craig Nennig (Starting infielder for 61 games with a .256 BA)
Jake Post (Pitcher but did not play at all this year)
Zach Ratcliff (1B, started 11 games only played 16 with a .268 BA)
Nick Sergakis (Infielder, second best player. Started all 65 games, hit .332 with 10 HR)

They return most of the team, the majority of what they lost were role players except for Sergakis, he was a stud. But, they have their best player back in Dawson, most of the starting position players and the majority of their pitching.

Congrats to OSU Buckeyes Jr OF Ronnie Dawson on being selected in the MLB Amateur Draft 61st overall (2nd rd pick) by the Houston Astros. Who knows if he will go with his draft pick or come back to OSU for one more season and try to be a 1st rd pick. The Buckeyes will desperately need him back next year.
