Losses to Texas and Michigan. Penn State is a toss up. 9-3 floor, 11-1 absolute ceiling. I'm predicting 10-2, fringe playoff team, depending on the outcome of the Penn State game.

I think everyone here can admit Michigan has earned the benefit of the doubt in The Game.

Washington, in Seattle, is no easy task either, even with a decided talent advantage in favor of the team down south.

Big Ten title comes down to Michigan, Oregon, and Penn State. Michigan has by far the easiest path of the three with no Oregon or Penn State and Nebraska being the toughest road test in conference. Team down south travels up US-23 for their ass whoopin' and Little Brother will be lucky to keep everyone in suspense on where Paul Bunyan is going for more than a quarter or two.

Not an unreasonable summation about the Big 10 for 2025.

Penn State returns the most talent and experience, yet have James Franklin who has a knack of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory .

Oregon just oozes talent and Michigan is uniquely built on the line of scrimmage to negate Ohio State"s skill. A favorable schedule could make winning The Game the path to the playoffs for the Wolverines. That and honestly the Buckeye Nation's preoccupation with the "scandal" plays into Michigan's hand.

The Buckeye's are strong at wide receiver and in the defensive back seven, but rebuilding their defensive line and breaking in new coordinators and a new QB represent challenges. 9-3 would not be totally shocking especially given the emotion the program expended in the NC drive. Still TOSU is getting a lot of love in the preseason polls and analytics .

Other teams like Illinois and Indiana have talent and experience and will not be an easy out for anybody . Washington could rebound and USC has the talent to contend despite their coaching.

The Big 10 is no longer the Big 2 and everybody else. Should be a fun season.

I agree with everything you just said....except for USC. USC is the biggest bunch of paper tigers I've ever seen. For all the flack we give James Franklin for losing to Michigan and Ohio State every year, Lincoln Riley seems to get creamed every time he coaches against a team with a good head coach. I mean the guy had Caleb Williams at QB and lost to Tulane. Tulane.....

TULANE, BY GOD, TULANE!!!

I grew up watching Carson Palmer, Troy Polamalu, Matt Leinart, LenDale White, Reggie Bush, Dwayne Jarrett, Rey Maualuga, Brian Cushing, Clay Matthews, and countless others.

John McKay is rolling in his grave

Week One: # 1 Texas (0-0) Versus # 3 Ohio State (0-0)

Rematch of the 2024 CFP Semifinal that Ohio State won 28-14. A game that was closer than the final score

State opens as up to a 4.5 point home favorite. The Buckeyes have talent galore but have several unknowns: new QB Julian Sayin, new defensive line, new defensive coordinator, and an offensive coordinator who may or may not have actual responsibility to call plays.

Texas is also stocked with talent and has an edge in returning experience. Texas also has a new starting QB in Arch Manning. A Heisman candidate with obvious pedigree and who did start two games last season.

I see two keys to the game. Can Ohio State play with the intensity of last season's championship run and turnovers. I see Texas pulling out a 28-17 win due to a late Buckeye' turnover. Still the beauty of such a big early season matchup is that a loss does not kill your playoff chances.

Kick is at noon on 8/30 on Fox.

I think it will come down to if they can stop Manning running the ball, and force him to throw, the Buckeyes have a good chance to win this. From what I saw last year his rushing game was better than his passing. Who knows how Sayin will do getting his feet wet against such a tough team. He got some big shoes to fill. Howard was one of the best ever to roam the Woody. I'm taking Texas in the upset 24-14. Too many unknowns for the Bucks right now with all the personnel changes. On a side note, Fox ruined this game making it a noon start, IMO. This a prime-time game if I ever saw one and should be at least late afternoon and ideally under the lights! It's even too early for Bevo XV to make the trip. :(

Seen them talking about Bevo. It would have been an 8 day trip for Bevo. 4 up here, and 4 back. Too much stress on him they was saying. Have to make too many hourly stops for him.

GO TEXAS!!!!!!!

The student handlers who haul him around were on ESPN today. They said the 8 days round trip would take away too much school time and was the primary reason. They also said the close quarters in the Shoe would stress him more with less space between him and the crowd. Don't know about you inches, since you're a big ttun fan, but I would have loved to see him running out with his handlers before kickoff. That's an iconic image of Texas. He would have had some nice weather too since it's probably a bake oven down in Austin right now. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/other/ ... ngNewsSerp

Yep, they mentioned the School time lost for the handlers, but they didn't like the travel time stress. too many hourly stops him getting in and out. Not like a dog where you can just stop to let him do his business. Ole Bevo has to be out for awhile on them stops. Don't matter to me to see him run out. I'm no Texas fan either, but fan enough to want to beat them Buckeyes.......GO TEXAS!!! HORN UM GOOD AND HARD!!!

The link did't say as much as the news was talking about. They was even talking to Bevo's handlers. also too much travel time stress on him. One guy said Ohio is not like taking him to Lousisana or close by games like that. Too many hourly stops he said. Lots of care to take Bevo to games. He's use to them big loud games, so the over sized shaped toilet seat shoe wouldn't matter to him. Not much room on the side surface around there. I will agree with that.......... GO TEXAS!!!

Texas now favored in the opener versus Ohio State

Vegas sets the spread to make money depending on which team the betting money flows to.

Ohio State 14 Texas 7

Big plays on defense carried the Buckeyes to the win. Two goal line stands and an interception kept Texas from winning the game.

Texas had 366 total yards to Ohio State's 203 but failed to make the big play when needed. The Bucks could only manage 77 yards rushing on 32 attempts while Julian Sayin was 13 of 20 for 126 yards and one touchdown. Sayin did a solid job of game management with no turnovers.

Texas was an obviously strong opponent and the Buckeyes showed character in the win. State has much to improve on before they get into Big 10 play.

I picked the bovines to win but said if the Bucks can limit Mannings rushing yards, and force him to throw, Bucks got a good chance to win. Manning rushing yards 10-38. Mission accomplished. I guess the question is Manning and the Horns offense overrated or Bucks defense that good? Most the time the answer to these questions is a little bit of both. Sayin looked really poised today. Nice start for him against a tough defense!

I too picked Texas. Sayin did not beat himself. The defense played big. Much for State to improve on but they did best a very good team today.

Just saw where Sayin made history today. First Buckeye QB to ever beat a top 5 team in their first start. Congrats Julian!

The coaching staff had a great plan for Sayin and I thought Sayin managed the game very well. I look for them to really open up the offense over the next few weeks. Sayin is more than adequate to lead this team to a title.
Defense is going to be REALLY good.
Donaldson looks like a great back. Peoples not so much. I think it will turn into a Donaldson and Bo Jackson show before long.
Go Bucks
